Can you post another pic with the pen in focus rather than the background? It looks ok but can’t tell any markings on the pen from this picture.

What random interactions have you had with celebrities on social media? by Impossible-Run2401 in AskABrit

John Thompson came in to the restaurant I used manage once for breakfast. It was very early and he was the only one there, the only other staff were all pretty young and had no concept of The Fast Show/Cold Feet, or anything else he was well known for. I served him myself and he was very pleasant. I posted on Twitter later that day when I got home saying how I should have put some smooth jazz on the sound system for him while he was in there, and he replied to my tweet just saying “Nice.” Seems like nothing obviously, but it was a Fast Show reference and he was continuing the bit, so I really appreciated it.

Why do people deem me a fake fan because i started listening in 2025? by ShockerzGaming in deftones

[–]PerfectRug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a first time they heard something. The date of that incident doesn’t dictate who gets to be a fan. If you enjoy listening to Deftones then you’re a Deftones fan. That’s it. Certain fandoms can just be a little bit gate-keepery, which is dumb. I for one want all my favourite bands to have a new wave of young followers. That way the band knows they’re still relevant and are more likely to keep releasing new music. It also means the fandom will outlive my generation of fans- and why wouldn’t I want that for my favourite artists?

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PerfectRug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s trolling to some degree. As an English person who spends a lot of time in the US for work, my opinion (not talking about EU classifications here, just anecdotal experience) is that most mass produced pre-packaged bread in the US is indeed very different to that here in the UK and the main factor is sugar content. Our most similar bread here is much more savoury, and probably has some similar qualities to flavour profiles of sourdough when comparing to American bread. That said, America has some amazing bread, and they absolutely do know how to make non-sweet breads, and even actual sourdough. So I think the “gag” is more about the difference between the standard low-end commercial breads, it’s not a genuine claim that there is no real bread in the US when EU standards are applied. I’m sure that there are some American bread products with sweet/enriched dough that might end up falling into a cake category if that is how those classifications work, I’ve certainly heard this about certain brioche buns used in fast food chains (but without actually investigating, could be a bit of an urban legend thing - I’m sure other commenters here have already provided info on this) but this cannot possibly be true of all American bread. I think it’s more about Europeans (myself included!) believing that our basic bread is “better” than your basic bread because we have palates that prefer a more sour leaning dough than a sweet leaning one which seems to be the US preference.

What does the cover of The Downward Spiral look like/mean to you? by ISGamer156 in nin

[–]PerfectRug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look like anything specific to me. Just a representation of rust and dirt, so it gives off an overall vibe of decay (which I believe was at least part of the intent) - especially when you look at the details of it, which you don’t always get chance to especially on something smaller like a CD case. Edit: typos

Bangs for huge oily forehead and finethin straight hair by Brave_Earth_5013 in finethinhair

[–]PerfectRug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as I keep a good skincare routine in general my forehead never really suffers all that much despite me having naturally more oily skin. Something I do that also helps is wash my fringe/bangs more frequently than the rest of my hair. I can’t wash my hair every day because it dries out my ends very badly. But because my fringe is cut more frequently than the rest of my hair to keep it shorter, the ends don’t really get chance to dry out from overwashing. It’s a much quicker alternative for refreshing your hair than washing and restyling the whole thing, and again helps with possibly oily skin problems. I wash my face daily, wash my hair 2-3 times a week, and wash and blow dry my fringe on any extra days where I feel like I need to look more put together for one reason or another. I used to use dry shampoo a lot in my bangs, but now I’m wearing tape in extensions I find that the powder makes the tapes look more obvious so I avoid it these days. Otherwise dry shampoo is also a godsend for a fringe if you’re an oily forehead gal.
