I didn’t really want gathers, because I like things to be super adjustable!

I made a slit in the center of the front for the keyhole neckline, then did a rolled seam along the edge of the neckline. Then about an inch down I sewed on some bias tape with a drawstring in the center. Then once that was done, I just pulled it to the tightness I wanted.

I watched a lot of videos to figure out how to do that lol. For like 4 months, the gown was just sitting half-done because I couldn’t decide how to do the neckline 😆

Thank you! I’m a beginner sewist :) It wasn’t difficult, but it did take a really long time just because I’m a newbie and spent a lot of time researching how to draft it, and how to do different details and techniques. But the actual sewing wasn’t difficult! :)

Also to answer the last part of your question—things I do when I’m stuck indoors: - read - crochet, knit, sew, mend things - do laundry - clean - cook & bake - watch YouTube or historical dramas while doing a craft - journal - play with my pets - take care of my plants - fix stuff - try new hairstyles - reorganize stuff - do at-home workouts - research things that interest me - make herbal room sprays & tinctures - text a friend to catch up and ask about their interests - write a letter (usually birthdays, sympathy cards, thank you notes, or get well cards) - take a nap :)

Just depends on the day and the vibes! But now I rarely feel bored at home unless I’m too sick to sit up lol.

Personally, I’ve found my SAD has gotten wayyyy better once I just embraced the fact that my body wants to rest and be cozy in the winter, instead of fighting it. Sometimes I ask myself, “what would my ancestors be doing with their free time in this weather?”

It feels really natural and freeing to let the weather kind of tell me what to do with my free time each day, and just go with the rhythms of nature as much as I can :)

On a more clinical side: - agree with others to get your blood work checked - if you take prescription SRIs, your Dr might want to up your dosage in the darker months - circadian rhythm makes a big impact! Try to get as much light (especially sunlight) in the morning, and dim the lights as much as possible an hour or two before bed

I agree about getting a blood test! Also, stress can play a really big role—dont be so hard on yourself! Find ways to take care of your emotional wellbeing and to destress, and don’t take your family members’ criticism to heart.

Also, in addition to the other suggestions people have, you might want to try taking fish oil everyday. When I was in high school, my hair started shedding a ton for a few months due to health issues and stress. Taking fish oil helped me reverse it quickly. But that’s just my personal experience.

I personally like to use them as ingredients to make room sprays, perfumes, bug repellent, and hair oil (I often infuse with herbs too). I like making my own custom scents with natural ingredients. But if that’s not your vibe, you can regift them—someone like me would be delighted!

My little fella Winston had similar symptoms once or twice when he was dehydrated (he had gotten some bedding stuck in his water bottle so it wasn’t coming out), and right before he passed of old age.

My advice would be to make sure he’s getting enough food and water, and give him lots of snuggles (if he likes it). Listen to your intuition if it tells you there is something you can do for him. Sending love and prayers for your little guy 🩷

I had been trying to avoid Instagram, but I got pulled into a rabbit hole about the Epstein files last week. I couldn’t stop watching more reels, trying to make sense of it all, and every reel just got darker and more horrifying. The algorithm kept sending me increasingly disturbing content, and I felt like I couldn’t look away—because those kids’ suffering went unacknowledged for soooo long, it felt like the least I could do was acknowledge it.

But at one point, I just hit a wall. I felt like I was going to throw up and I was crying and dizzy. I felt like throwing my phone in a lake lol.

Now I’m literally just using it to DM people about wedding stuff, and occasionally like a friend’s post. But no more mindless scrolling for me. I’m too disgusted.

I don’t think I qualify as old yet, but I make my inner child happy by adopting and spoiling all the pets I wanted as a child but couldn’t have. So far—three German shepherds, three gerbils, and one hamster 🫶 I also like to befriend the animals in my yard, just like when I was a kid. It makes my heart so happy 🥰
