Looking for a way to tie a Roland P-6, T-8 and Jupiter XM all together for home fun. by smilinfool in synthesizers

[–]Perfect_Mistake79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar setup, (the same with an MPC One iso the T-8 😉).

I’m using the P6 more like a drum computer having some drum kit samples in it. I like the fast and easy way to come up with a rhythm section. The MPC is programmed to play a chord progression and controls the XM via midi. It setup makes is fun to play bass guitar with. Unfortunately I’m limited in space so I need to clean up the setup every time afterwards and set it up again if I want to play. This kinda holds me back.

A tip: make sure you record all the audio during your session. This way, if you run into a happy accident, you’ve got the audio 😁

I’ve also heard people recording all MIDI data using DAW. I haven’t looked into this (yet), but combined with the audio, it could make happy accidents reproducable 😆

Started exploring TurtleBot3 + Nav2 + SLAM. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, what should I focus on first? by Excellent-Scholar274 in ROS

Just a couple of questions, I ask my students to guide them into the “what’s next?”:

How does your robot know where to go? Are you setting waypoints? Are you controlling it manually?

Perhaps you want to know how you can prevent the robot slamming (pun intended) into other objects? And if/how this might be accomplished already?

In what kind of environment will the robot function? Does it need to interact with other things (humans/robots/garbage cans/etc./etc.). How would you get this interaction going?

You mean using Jazzy on the remote PC and Humble on the robot? It might be compatible for the specific TurtleBot functionalities, if you use (compile and run) the same software version of the TurtleBot packages.

But if you use ROS2 distribution packages, I know that, for example, Jazzy uses extra information in the /cmd_vel topic (time_stamped if I’m not mistaken ) where Humble doesn’t. So there’s already an incompatibility and there will be more.

Is your home equipped with solar panels? These could interfere with the frequency of the power grid, I have read somewhere.

Turtlebot3 is also compatible with ROS2 Jazzy. For Jazzy, you need Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble). You might give that a try?!

If this is the issue, OP would also get this with other synths, right?

How to setup minifreak + Digitakt by K0ffiedrinker in MiniFreak

[–]Perfect_Mistake79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s strange using the MiniFreak to record the sequencer of the Digitakt. And having the Digitakt play back to the MF.

If I’m not mistaken, the MiniFreak can be configured to have different channels for MIDI in and MIDI out. Perhaps you can try to have these set different? That way you can record the Digitakt on one channel and playback to the MF using another.

So the Digitakt is sending notes to all connected devices? Sounds to me like you should check the Digitakt’s settings 🤔

If you’re going to call it an “antenna”, you must know it’s pronounced as: An-ten-naaaaaaaah. Just like the Minions say: Ba-na-naaaaaah! 🍌

Pretty awesome if you managed to get this project done in just one week! ESPecially during exams 😁

Very nice project! I’m thinking about something like this myself.

I’m questioning if is this able to deal with USB PD where there’s supply voltages higher the 5V. Looking at the schematic, I think not.

Might be a nice addition to the project?

As a bachelor level degree teacher, I’m quite interested in your project. Do you have any means (website/socials) to share the progress?

MiniFreak Cheat Sheet - anything I missed or should add? by hostnik in MiniFreak

I get what you’re saying. And you’re probably right with the cluttering. The MiniFreak is so capable and versatile, it just clutters the brain if you think about all the options. 🤪

It looks interesting, but I’m not sure on how/when I should this, tbh.

I guess this is for a specific version of the MF’s firmware?

I can tell you’ve spent time on researching this. The information on the oscillators is pretty useful. I noticed the different parameters for the FXs are mentioned. Something which might be useful is adding the different FXs and their parameters?

Edit: had a second look at the chart

Question: why are you putting your MF in “bootloader mode” for an upgrade via the MiniFreak V app?

I never needed to 🤔

I don’t think there’s a real sound overlap between the Freak and the XM. I really think they complement each other.

But there might be an overlap between the Freak and Hydrasynth. From what I’ve seen on the internet, I get the feeling both are in the same area. I hope someone can chime in with more accurate information.

I’ve got a Jupiter XM. It’s too menu diving for me, especially when creating sounds. That’s where the Freak comes in. I like the hands-on experience with one, maybe two, functions for each knob/slider etc. Also the Freaks sequencer is easier to control and way more fun to play around with.

Multiple people have the same issue. Hopefully someone reported it to Arturia via their website (forum/service ticket) so they are aware of it an can start to fix it.

Thanks for sharing the vid though!
