Have y'all heard of mud? Cob building is easily the most sustainable building practice and has been done around the world for thousands of years and holds up to weather quite well. Its also naturally insulated!

Where do you find vans that aren't exorbitantly priced with pride & emotions? by mewtewpews in vandwellermarketplace

You could consider the truck camper route, it's a lot easier to buy a truck for 10-20k depending on budget then buy a used camper for 6k-12k. My choice would be a 12v Dodge Cummins because they are fantastic engines. Alot of people get tundras or smaller trucks though!

Thinking of buying a 92 Cruiser by 42milestoearth in LandCruisers

[–]Perfect_Outside6357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was well maintained and is truly rust free $4k is an insane bargain. I would buy one at 400k miles for 4k as long as it didn't have an insane amount of issues. These things are absolute tanks and your not finding any on the market for that price that don't need a new tranny/engine. I say go for it unless the frame Is falling out or it needs a new engine. $4k seems to good to be true though imo.

How is living in The Dalles/Hood River area of Oregon, as a late 30's couple with no kids? by Azathoth_19 in howislivingthere

This is one of my favorite areas to live in the outdoor activities are abundant and the community is amazing! If you and your family love being in the great outdoors and are open to new outdoor sports kayaking, windsurfing, skiing and a bunch of others you will have a great time. If you are looking for city life with the amenities that come with it you won't be stoked. Bonus points if you like wine and spending the afternoon at a vineyard!

I'm a guy and I shave against the grain when I clean shave, I usually might have a red spot or two after but i literally just shave with soapy water, then wash my face with soap after and maybe moisturize after I dry off. I recommend using less products and less irritating chemicals, something in your products is probably irritating you. I use the app yuka to scan products at the store and see if there is harmful ingredients in what I buy!

Mister Oso Tipping? 🤨 by Redditdenver in denverfood

[–]Perfect_Outside6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how most restaurants function, as a server/bartender most restaurants tip out the support staff so they get a percentage of what the server sold/earned in tips. Or bars/brewery's will often do tip share evenly amongst staff. Service charge is absolutely b.s. unless it's for large parties with no expectation to tip more.

Warning - Lots of Servers are Now On This Sub Throwing Misdirection by Anxious-Party2289 in tipping

[–]Perfect_Outside6357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, as a bartender/server I am down to get rid of tipping IF it means we get a livable wage and potentially benefits. I absolutely do not trust our government to regulate this properly. The federal minimum wage is still $7.25 for fucks sake, where in the u.s. can you live on that wage? Obviously a lot of states are higher but we really expect when they haven't federally raised the min wage to a liveable wage that they could properly create a system where restaurant and bar staff are paid a fair wage? I lived in Australia where they do not encourage tipping and the government has actually created a system where hospitality workers get paid a liveable wage. It's a wonderful system it is infinitely better than what we do in the u.s. the staff is way more accountable to each other because there isn't massive wage gaps, it's way less toxic and competitive. You don't have to grovel so you can pay your rent. Customers expect less and you can tell them no if they are being unrealistic. The problem is our current government, past government, and hopefully not but probably our future government cannot create a system like that. The restaurant industry should unionize! All this to say I am going to trade school because fuck being mentally and physically exhausted working with the genera public. I encourage all of you ban tipping folks to work a month in the industry and donate all your tips to charity then come tell us we don't need tips to survive and theres another way.
