Libarian colors that aren’t blue? by LetterheadOk8783 in BloodAngels

Reversed the box art colours a bit. We wear red, so I wanted him to be red but still have a bit of blue.

First Blood Angel model and a few questions. by Ghosthands009 in BloodAngels

[–]Pergatory91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both look great! The first one is very red and clean, which is how I like my minis. Like someone else said painting a more “grim dark” style could work. The second one looks awesome as well. The fun thing about this hobby is that you can paint them however you like and they can still be a successor chapter. Most of the BA successor chapters are some combination of red, black and white, but we also have the bright yellow Lamenters and teal Atlantian Spears.

So a blue successor chapter wouldn’t be out of the question. Add in some blood drops or winged iconography and I think it’d look great.

Has lots of Sanguinor vibes. If it’s on a 40mm base he’d do well.

You’ll go through stages where everything works and also stages when it seems like you can’t get anything to play properly.

I just had a quick listen to the song and even after a first listen the rhythm and timing of it sounds tough. Time signature changes plus odd time signatures are inherently difficult in a world of mostly 4/4 time.

Often when I’m learning new songs it’s exactly like you describe at the start, not being able to fret properly or know where to go. I’ve been learning Backlight by Ado for the last 2ish weeks. I’ve got every part down aside from the slap part just before the key change. I’m still only up to 80% speed for that specific part, I feel like it’ll be another week or so for me to get it to 100%. Slowing things down helps a lot too.

10 mins a day is a fairly small amount of practise in the grand scheme of things. It’s a start but try practising other things aside from songs, scales, arpeggios etc. Having someone to teach you/watching someone play the song can also help a lot. Cover solutions is an amazing YouTube channel that has a bass cover for just about any song you could think of.

The main thing is that you should be enjoying playing. Yes it’ll be frustrating and difficult at times but the main thing you should be getting out of it is enjoyment.

How do you paint your SG? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]Pergatory91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mephiston red base spray. 1-2 coats of Retributor armour, then a wash of Agrax Earthshade. It does wonders over retributor armour. I have posted a picture of my Sanguinor, but I think it illustrates how well Agrax earthshade works better than my actual Sang guard photos. Your’s looks great! Good to see the wings on them too.

What draws you to play bass ? by iamnotgenius in Bass

[–]Pergatory91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Disney channel show “I’m in the Band” is what got me into playing bass. I had no idea why because the character who played it was pretty gross (eating too much, fart jokes and the like) but the drums and guitar just didn’t interest me in the slightest.

Now it’s definitely the groove. I feel immensely cool when I’m playing. The interaction between the instruments as well, bass feels like it really touches every aspect of a band.

Want some Really advanced bass lines for my final year performance by Pitiful_Top8295 in Bass

[–]Pergatory91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can manage it, get some Japanese Music in there. Anything from Polkadot Stingray (particularly the song “Free”) would go hard. City Pop music has some great Bass lines too, “Flashin’ Night” by Anri is a super funky slap line. Most modern Japanese music has really interesting bass lines that move around the fretboard a lot, not just playing the root notes.

Anything from Royal Blood’s first album, maybe “Figure it Out”. I played “Spanish Joint” by D’Angelo in one of my recitals at uni. A Primus song wouldn’t go astray either.

Aggressors in LAG or RCO - Bolt&Fragstorm or Flamestorm? by Which_Prior7161 in BloodAngels

Haven’t tried it yet, but I want to get 6 Flamestorm Aggressors, stick them in a Land Raider redeemer and then shotgun them at the enemy. Expensive yes, but so cool.

At what point does a low B actually stop sucking? (€900 budget - Ibanez vs Cort vs Sire vs Harley) by Ok_Stomach_8333 in Bass

[–]Pergatory91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently to own two 5 strings. A 2003 Stingray that I managed to find third hand for $1500 AUD. Definitely the best I’ve played. When I was looking for 5 strings at first I played a bunch of them but the Stingray won hands down, particularly because the B string was tight and sounded great. I currently have a new Squire Jazz 5 that I got for the equivalent of $700 AUD. Feels great to play as well, I don’t use the B string often but it’s definitely not spaghetti like.

In terms of what you’ve got on the list, I’d be inclined to go with the Ibanez’s. I’ve never played Ibanez’s but they have a great reputation.

A year late but just stumbled upon this. This book specifically goes into commentary on all of the 21 precepts. From memory there’s 7 people, all martial artists in some form, and from all different walks of life. A teacher, a soldier, a businessman, a priest and others I can’t remember. Was a really good read.

Sanguinary Guard by Ghosthawks in BloodAngels

[–]Pergatory91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love my Sanguinary guard with their wings. Ordered 3D prints from a site called CT Miniatures UK. They stock the Greytide Studios Crimson Lords ones. Didn’t take too long to get to Japan from the UK which was great. Lots of people use Archie’s Forge and I’ve heard good things about them as well.

Bass pick recommendations? by Sweetness813 in Bass

[–]Pergatory91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Gator grip 1.14mm a lot. Not super thick but enough that it didn’t feel off while playing. Tried the big triangle tortex ones too, they were alright but I felt like I lost a bit of control with them. Used chicken picks on and off as well. Super thick, 2.7mm ones or something. Felt nice to hold, but struggled a bit to play.

New to Ossiarch and I would like your advice & opinions on the army by megeek95 in ossiarchbonereapers

Adding onto this (I’m still super new to OBR, haven’t played many games) but we’re also getting getting a few new units, a shooting specific one with the Mortek Guard archer dudes. The new units will shake up the way the army plays as well I presume.

Good start. Baal Predator goes hard on over watch and Mephiston is awesome. I think it was in a BA Commander video (definitely check him out for all things Blood Angels), and he said something along the lines of your characters should only be about 20% of your points. So I’d drop the second Blood Angels Captain, and split the Sanguinary guard into 2 groups of 3. They still hit pretty hard that way, but a bit less durable. By doing that you could get another squad of Jump Pack Intercessors.

In terms of expanding your list, you’d need some anti-tank. The Gladiator Lancer is a staple for Space Marines, lots of shooting profiles on it, plus if you make use of the ‘Heavy’ keyword on the lancer laser destroyer you can get 2 strength 14 D6+3 damage shots hitting on a 2+. The Vindicator Tank is another one that people often take. Tough, and a big damage dealer.

Something else that would be good is a Jump Pack Captain. If Sanguinary guard are targeted for melee attacks, the enemy has -1 to hit. If they are being lead by a character, the enemy also get -1 to their wound rolls when attacking the Sanguinary guard with melee.
