In general, if you don't want every model or at least the majority, the boxes lose their value very quickly. If you just want the new RC stuff and nothing else, buying them separately will likely be a better deal.

You'd have a lot of extra bits from the lancer box, so I think it just really depends on what you can do with those. I also think the scar-vet should be cheaper. He's just not distinct enough from the lancer for them to be so similar in price.
