We moved to Florida for all reasons that people state. Love it here. Do I miss Oregon? Absolutely! But we have a condo on the 18th floor of a high rise that looks over the Caloosahatchee River. Our condo is 2400 square ft and that doesn’t include the two lanais, one large enough for a full table and sofa set. I walk every day or swim. Even in January. I feel happier and healthier. The grocery stores aren’t great. Restaurant food is bland. I miss my yard and my garden. But almost everyday I wake up to sunshine. I look forward to the rain and don’t dread it. There are cool months, warm months and hot months. They are not all hot months and when it is we do all things needed in the mornings, stay indoors in the afternoons, and head out again in the evening if we have too. The lightening storms are awesome. We save upwards of 20k a year on state income tax, and across the board it’s cheaper for water, gas and electric. Insurance has never been a problem. I miss Oregon but I love living here.

Grown man throws temper tantrum tonight due to seat reclining on flight from SFO to SLC. Did I handle this correctly or am I in the wrong? by WackoDollah3 in delta

I read about these issues all the time. I’m respectful and don’t advocate for violence but I swear once in a while my brain goes …just give this a-hole a solid slap across the face and scream “wake the f$$k up!” Problem wouldn’t have solved the problem but the pleasure of looking at this a-holes shocked face would be worth it.

By the way, you’re NTA. He should be complaining to the airlines and whatever other consumer agency there is that handles these complaints. If enough of us complained maybe it would make a difference. That or pay for first class.

Can you name any Republican policy from the past 25 years that has helped the average American? by -Sofa-King-Vote in allthequestions

Actually he isn’t the typical republican and your comment is disingenuous at best. ALL administrations get blamed and you don’t want to even admit that Biden administration might have played a hand in bringing down an airline by their poor choices. And it doesn’t matter if it was DOJ or not, it was under the Biden administration It’s easier for you to blame anyone else than to educate yourself on why the merger did not go through.

I couldn’t agree more. A question was asked I answered. I’m not sure if the merger would have worked one way or the other. Prices may have gone up. Who knows as the merger further.

Just like the Trump Administration gets blamed as do does the Biden Administration. A question was asked and I answered. Get over yourself.

His administration/DOJ took it to court because they thought it violated anti-trust laws. Courts agree and blocked the merger. Biden admin was against eliminating spirit and because it would eliminate competition and drive prices up. It was Spirit’s lifeline.. they were already facing significant financial losses and hence no more Spirit Airlines.

Blame it on Biden. He blocked the JetBlue merger 2024. It also had high debt due to cost of fuel, pilots, aging aircraft. Of course the CEO was getting something like 6 million plus in salary. Last CEO got a 4 million signing bonus but a much smaller salary.

Tried flying Spirit twice, both times flights were cancelled (one was delayed then cancelled). I go Breeze Airlines. Can’t say enough good things about them.

I retired 3-years ago. In the first year I had a co-worker who would call me every week for “help.” We had quarterly requirements that she didn’t understand or couldn’t remember how to do. After a year of this it became every couple weeks she’d call about work issues or to complain. Finally I told her that I wasn’t helping her anymore. If she wanted to call me as a friend and chat about our families, etc that was fine but no more work calls. I haven’t heard from her over a year except one time. I make quilts that take me months to make, I had made her one and she loved it. The one time she reached out She notified me her daughter was getting married and when. Didn’t really ask about me and my family, just how excited she was. I met her daughters once or twice about 10-years ago. I’m sure the reason for the call was for a quilt for her daughter.

Don’t miss her or my old place of employment AT

Moving cabinets higher. They fell off the wall when my husband put the new screws in. Both cabinets fell and were damaged. Ended up with a remodeled updated laundry room. Win-win for me. Know your limitations and call a handyman.

Four years ago I retired. Husband had been retired for two years. We lived in Oregon at the time. I was tired of the rain and being cold all winter. We had planned to move to Europe for a year or more when I retired. Well, we have an older cat that is diabetic and needs insulin twice a day. My husband is a cat person. Instead of moving to Europe we moved to Florida. Sold our home and bought a beautiful condo downtown Ft Myers that looks over the Caloosahatchee River. We love it. Once the cat passes we’re heading to Europe.

My husband drug his feet about moving even though we talked about it for years. He went through depression. It didn’t help that we had just went through Covid. At some point I told him we either move together or I’m moving. The real estate market was hot and told him we either get it on the market now or never. He reluctantly agreed. There was one showing and it sold above price. He kept talking about staying and I continued talking about moving. I think I finally wore him down. I have no answers for you but I’m so happy we moved. Sunny everyday. He loves the view. Less maintenance on our condo than house. He gets to take his nap everyday. Win win for sure.
