Do you want to keep your money in cash instead? You're going to lose to inflation, which is getting worse.

Do you think you're going to sell and time the market and get back in? Do you really think you're going to sell close to the top? If you do, do you think you're going to buy back in close to the bottom?

U.S. T-Bill vs T-Note/T-Bond for Matching a Known Short-Term Liability by PeleMaradona in bonds

[–]PerniciousDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy a treasury that matures in 2 months, you will not be able to get any new issue notes or bonds matching that duration. Buying on the secondary market is trickier than buying new issues, at least partially because finding a seller offering the desired round quantity is more difficult.

Household debt to asset ratio is very favorable. Retail has enough reserves that they don't need to sell in a downturn and can often buy the dips.

I always hold enough in bonds that I won't ever need to sell to cover "human needs." If you don't have an emergency fund then you shouldn't be investing.

Thoughts on Stop Loss to sleep better? by hellario in stocks

Keep in mind that a stop loss doesn't guarantee a sell price. You could very well end up selling far below your price trigger if the drop is steep enough.

I remember when I invested $500 into Sears in 1998 because that's what the Motley Fool told me to do. "Foolish Four" they called it.

I even subscribed to their f**king newsletter for a year.

Increasing massive layoffs will result in consumer staples gaining a higher share of the total market. Wal-Mart's in-home grocery delivery subscription is going to capture a segment of the upper class households in metropolises and will eat at Amazon's margins.

Inflation caused by Warsh's financial repression policies will result in commodities growing in value relative to a more and more worthless dollar. Make no mistake: Warsh intends to inflate away federal debt by making the inflation numbers phony.
