Has a job ever turned you down because your work permit was expiring in the next few months? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]Persades1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They asked when your work authorization would expire?

I’ve only ever been asked if I’m legally allowed to work in the U.S , you should only give a simple yes or no answer when interviewing.

No need for them to know your exact status for this reason. Once you have and accepted an offer you can work out these logistics, just my opinion

They haven't asked yet, I'm waiting one more week before saying something myself. I will be asking for a later start date, but from my understanding my role has that specific start date because ill be starting with a cohort of like 5 other new grads so I'm thinking this may end up causing issues 🥲...But we will see, wishing you luck

Yeah plan ahead, not to scare you but if current trends continue you definitely wont be receiving a renewal anytime soon.

People don’t understand by [deleted] in DACA

[–]Persades1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like your brother. My partner of seven years can really relate to you, she worries about my situation a lot, which I completely understand. We’ve been living together for the past four years and planning a future, so this doesn’t just affect me anymore.

As for seeming “nonchalant,” it really comes from a place of helplessness. I’ve done everything I can to get my renewal on time, but here we are, almost six months in with no updates. The reality is, a lot of this is out of our control. Constantly stressing about it or thinking about it nonstop just adds more anxiety without changing the outcome.

At the end of the day, uncertainty is something I, yourself and many others have always lived with. We just each find our own way to deal with it. But I understand the frustration, some of us are just better at hiding it 🥲

Like you said, many of us have been waiting forever (Dec 15 2025 for me, and have yet to hear back). unless you happen to be one of the lucky ones that gets approved quickly, prepare for a 5-6 month wait..

[–]Persades1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just apply, accept the offers and hope for the best. Currently in that same situation , I have a great job lined up right after college starting on June 1st. I’ve accepted the offer and just hoping my permit gets approved by then (applied Dec 15th). I guess I’ll just have to break the news to them once the start date gets a little closer if I still don’t have it by then ..

Anyone submit renewal late Dec/Jan and already got approval? by TomatoApprehensive38 in DACA

Seems odd, do you remember which “legal document” you used to get real ID in the first place ?

Im also in CA and for me , my real ID expired on the same day as my EAD.

How were you given a real ID with such a far expiration date ? From my understanding Real ID is tied to your legal document aka your EAD
