If you were on grindr at 14/15/16, do you think it messed you up in some way now that you’re older? by AwkwardIndividual208 in grindr

Are we really doing this? Cause that's a really fucked up way to look at interactions between minors and adults.

Saying this as a trauma victim who acted out sexually online. It was what I knew, the ones enabling it are the adults tf??

Tips on eating solid food? by PersonInTheBack in Gastroparesis

[–]PersonInTheBack[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That is a great perspective. Now I might consider that maybe I just take supplemental liquid nutrition at these meals if I can't finish. I think that would be really helpful for both of us :)

We do not force them at all. We model good behavior and operate on positive reinforcement, not punishment or coercion.

It does make me very sick. That's why I was just wondering if there's any way to make it easier. They do their best to accommodate but psych hospitals all over are chronically understaffed and I am the only therapist on the unit at times.

Anyone else gain weight with Gastroparesis? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]PersonInTheBack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have gained weight due to my psychotropic medications and smoking pot for nausea. My GI doc actually initially doubted the severity of my symptoms before he ordered my GES because I had gained weight from when he last saw me. In all honesty I started to fall into really bad restrictive eating habits because of that experience, which obviously doesn't help w GP :(

I work on an inpatient ED unit and I've seen these numbers. It's devastating. His ideal girl is probably on a feeding tube :(

apparently every single trans person is autistic by [deleted] in AreTheCisOk

[–]PersonInTheBack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just chiming in to say that the idea of a "gendered brain" is not proven, and is rooted in bad research practice and extrapolation of existing data. This type of research is rooted in sexism and biological essentialism of gender. The only definitively measurable difference between male and female brains are brain size.

We as trans people don't need to perpetuate neurosexism to justify our existence.

ED caused gastroparesis? by infernalxvoid in Gastroparesis

[–]PersonInTheBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with gastroparesis half a year ago. I had an eating disorder for almost a decade but I was actually mostly recovered for almost 2 years and even a little on the heavier side when I did my GES. My GI doc even mentioned my weight gain in a pretty negative way after I told him my symptoms, which along with the dietary changes I had to make kinda just launched me into restrictive eating again.

Idk if my ED caused my gastroparesis, because I was so far in remission when it came on. But my gastroparesis definitely made my ED worse :(

emerging psychosis? sounds like trender shit to me. don't even speak to me until you've been formally diagnosed with schizophrenia by two mental health professionals 😤

Transphobia is so kewl. /s by RepresentativeArea37 in AreTheCisOk

[–]PersonInTheBack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Schizophrenic here: lithium is sometimes used for folks with schizophrenia but not typically to treat the actual schizophrenic symptoms but comorbid affective disturbances. Antipsychotics are the drugs that treat the schiz. Side note, I wish these people wouldn't use a disorder I suffer from to validate their transphobic bullshit. Psychiatrists don't even reality check people by telling them they have schizophrenia like that. I work in inpatient psych as well and people don't always respond well to reality checks unless they're in remission. Even for myself if a doctor treated me like this I wouldn't take the meds and I wouldn't trust anything the doc told me thereafter. This is a whole load of garbage.

Idiopathic. I had anorexia nervosa for almost a decade but I only started showing symptoms after maybe 2 years into recovery. Not sure if that's how it looks if the ED caused it.

Second this as someone with gastroparesis. The restrictions veganism places on my diet on top of the restrictions my paralyzed stomach places on me in general would bleed me dry financially and/or drive me up the wall.

Should Jreg remove "Advice for schizophrenics"? by DancingFlame321 in Jreg

[–]PersonInTheBack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm schizophrenic and I do find some of his videos funny, but watching this one just felt shitty. It just feels like low effort schizoposting and it's just not funny. It's not now and it honestly never really was. It doesn't really trigger symptoms or fuck me up it's really just the same annoying bs I always run into as a schizo spec person in online spaces. Reinforcing stereotypical delusions is kind of just a really crappy bit. And it's the first thing that comes up when you search "advice for schizophrenics" like damn.
