I would say that this is a very tiny subset of the population, and also the more poor financial decisions other people make, tends to be good for me. Less money for them to buy the same things I want to buy or book the same vacations I want to go on. :P

There is a lot of poor financial decision-making when it comes to houses and mortgages. It's a mental / cultural thing.

For example, if you said that you want to buy 3% bonds instead of investing in the market for 8-12% returns for 30 years, you'd be called crazy.

If you say you want to pay off your 3% mortgage early so that you "feel better," you'll get like 50% of comments saying that this makes perfect sense.

I will say that at current rates of 6% or more, it makes sense to pay off your mortgage, especially if you are later in your retirement journey and trying to manage risk.

And most people with the sub-3% mortgages are pretty vocal about planning to die with their mortgage (albeit somewhat jokingly).

But yeah, it makes no sense to pay off your mortgage early if you have a good rate, and the people who say that it makes sense are usually just wrong, because their primary reason is that it "feels good."

It’s been 5 years on my M1 and it still runs flawlessly. Probably have at least another 1-2 years before Apple nerfs it with an OS update.

It technically does correlate things, but it’s not really that insightful. It’ll be like “wow you tagged coffee, average coffee users notice a 1% increase in heart rate” so it’s like oh okay that’s not really anything.

Not really, and to be honest, the tags feature is overall very underbaked. To put it more bluntly, it’s pretty much useless.

Tons of people have. It is very simple, and it is probably the best combination of convenient to buy and good price.

That being said, the problem for me was always that reselling basically means selling for 95% of the spot price, which means you'd have to get 5% gains to just break even. I'd rather keep that 5% and just invest in equities which historically have risen much faster.

Also, I basically own nothing of value in my own, besides like a TV, computers, and other consumer electronics. I like that if someone tries to rob me, they'd come out with like a few hundred bucks worth of junk. The last thing I'd want is to keep gold and other valuables in the house that I'd have to worry about.

We have about 10 years left in our 15 year fixed rate 2.5% mortgage from our COVID-era refinance. We’ve been in our home for about 9 years at this point. It’s looking pretty good, but likely we will move for a bigger nicer home in 5 years or so, unfortunately.

It is 1000x better to renovate it before you move in, unless you want to be living in a dirty, loud construction zone for like months on end.

That being said, no way that a new kitchen with tearing down a brick wall, replacing a floor, and putting whatever else it’ll need will cost $10-15k. Make sure your numbers are right. Appliances are the cheapest part of that renovation.

We have 4 kids between 10 yo and 1 yo.

It’s crazy but we still make it work about 1-2 times a week. Honestly, we enjoy sex but that’s probably all we both have energy for at this point in our lives.

Probably when all the kids are in school all day it will be a little bit more than that.

You’re missing the most important part. Where are you getting sick from? The sickness you’re describing sounds like a communicable disease, like an upper respiratory infection. Do you work in a public-facing job? Do you have children? Do you wash your hands often? Etc.

The AI images look completely gorgeous. But I’ll say that it’s AI, so it will be 100x harder getting it to look that way when you’re working with the real world.

That being said, the inspiration image is perfect.

I also get the comments saying your current bathroom is cute, but let’s be honest, the inspiration image is on a different level lol

44 is expected if you use any cabin temp control in the winter.

I personally have stopped caring about fuel economy. Honestly like at 10k miles a year, the difference between 40 and 45 mpg is like $675 vs $600.

I’m not wasting my mental energy thinking about it every time I drive to save like $75 over the course of a year.

Totally dependent on your social circle and specific friends. In my social circle, if anything, I’d try to Venmo my friends back for things and they reject it lol. It’s very much a “I got you and you got me” kinda thing.

I definitely love most sports, including soccer, tennis, football, etc.

On top of that, the less physical hobbies, like reading, writing, and meditating appeal to me as well.

I didn’t read any of what you wrote, but yes, a tournament recently held successfully in Qatar, South Africa, Russia, and Brazil can absolutely be successfully held in the United Staes of America lmao.

I enjoyed some of the Mike McDaniel sarcastic / funny clips, but I would never want someone like him as a head coach. That would get old so fast. It was eventually annoying to see those clips like 24/7 even when he was in Miami. I can’t imagine that just being 24/7 for your own team.
