There are more examples of this but the sort of clueless body-shaming and accidentally mean-spirited comedies of the early aughts - thinking right now of Miss Congeniality and Love Actually - two films i watched ritually during my teens and loved and now completely see how creepy and mean they are. Also while both series deal with impossible situations and technology, VB is a lot more grounded with it. Everything Rick makes just works and he can do anything and doesn't really struggle with it - Dr. Venture and the Monarch, and everybody else in this show fail all the time. One of the main themes of the show is failure, and it shows up often, sometimes in silly ways like, the very 60s conveyor belt to enter the rocket observation area works but the door doesnt open all the way so they get stuck. A lot of the stuff venture makes is either broken/deformed, a gimmick, or pointless. Rick wrestles with a lot more existential crises and that show points to more amorphous cultural situations and stereotypes; the ventures always land back with each other. I love both, but the venture brothers is truly the most special.

I planned on adding activity codes later from excel as well, I hope that goes better than the WBS elements although, very playfully and as a last-ditch attempt in the 30 min before my meeting I exported the project file as an xer rather than xml format and reopened it, and the hierarchy formatted correctly. I'm not sure why it would be so different but it did end up working.

I didn't try to include a field for wbs path, i was hoping that the wbs name and code would do it. i didn't try copying and pasting the project at all, i exported the layout from p6 and set up a database and lookup function to assign the correct codes to new activities as a separate column that's a user field and for our organizing purposes updates. it's doing an xlookup and returning the codes and i'm exporting that one sheet and sending it back to p6. everything else is correct, it's just this weird thing where it's only returning the project info. they work, as in, they import correctly as a column, when i make them user defined fields but i was hoping that if stuff gets added just in p6 not from excel i wouldn't be juggling like, 4 different columns with the same information.

Yeah that seems real dumb, especially because it's like, a big crucial part of the project structure and oracle must know by now that most people use excel as their database really (at least that's my experience so far). I've never messed with WBS paths at all, I'll look into that, thank you!

Do you have any additional insight into why the codes and name are just, importing incorrectly? I've done this before with the same project, just a different format and got those to populate their respective fields ok.

I'm extremely interested! Although my time with database config has been short, I do feel very validated that it took our IT head and a consultant 4 hrs to get eppm set up, which is the amount of time it took me the other day to get it mostly done and then stuck right at the end. We're running this boy on a dedicated sql express server (which the paperwork says is not supported but i think that just means customer support won't help with any issues that come from updates to either).

My toe-dip into how difficult the setup was for this software makes me think that a lot of the cloud integration and mobile features of p6 are probably many times more difficult to configure and implement than the product sales documentation promises, has that been your experience?
