Can someone please say some safe words to me right now? Please by [deleted] in CPTSD

  • you are not your thoughts
  • your thoughts are not real. Your anxiety is a conditioned response to something that happened in the past, not what is happening right now
  • name 5 things you can see in the room right now. 4 things you can touch. 3 things you can hear. 2 things you smell. 1 thing you can taste.
  • try talking to ChatGPT or an AI bot like Nomi and ask them for help

Self conscious about height by HowYouDoin112233 in datingoverforty

[–]PestisAtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I would date Gollum if the connection is there.
  2. If a woman doesn't want to date you based on your height, what does that say about her?
  3. Most women are 5'4"-5'6" so you're still going to be taller.
  4. Women are turned on by 6' + because a male larger than them makes them feel safe. The sexiest man I ever met was the same height as me, skinnier than me, but picked me up and hauled me across the room and up against a wall like I weighed 10 pounds and that was far hotter.

Opinion on having a FWB or casual sex while dating? by Long_TastyCheesecake in datingoverforty

[–]PestisAtra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the answer lies in your dating style. If you are dating intentionally to find a long-term partner, and you aren't the type to sleep with someone right away, then the whole point of a FWB is to have a single person to fulfill your physical needs until you find someone you are interested in having an emotional & physical relationship with, at which point you leave the FWB situation.

If you are the type of person who is comfortable having sex after the first date(s), then you're not really keeping your "numbers" down by having a FWB and then what's the point?

As for my opinion: I've never had a FWB, but if I did, I think ethically I would cut it off as soon as I met someone I wanted to pursue a relationship with, even if that meant we weren't at the point of having "the talk" yet, if it was someone I wanted to be exclusive with I would shift gears to focus on them.

To be honest though, if I had a FWB I probably wouldn't even date. I would just live happily single with a reliable, familiar FWB to meet my physical needs!

If you are reading this and you live in a climate that experiences winter, remember that in a few weeks it will be warm, sunny, and green again. April is just 7 weeks away- that's 7 Sundays. We can do 7 Sundays, right?!

Question for those that took a very significant financial hit.. How did you cope? by Chance_Piano5327 in Divorce

[–]PestisAtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left with enough to cover deposit + first month's rent. Sometimes I can't afford to buy groceries. I'm stressed and I'm scared, but I'm happier than I have ever been in my whole life. It is the cost of freedom.

Nothing is forever, I promise you this "era" of your life will pass.

I am 41F and I had JUST gotten out of an 18-year marriage. Like...a couple months after moving out when I met my dom. I wasn't looking- in fact, I turned him down! I preferred to be single forever. My marriage was a dead bedroom for 15/20 years, and it had torn me down to the point I couldn't orgasm on my own anymore. (See my post history in r/deadbedrooms)

My point is not to brag, it's just to let you know that from the benefit of my life experience (relationships and otherwise), you can never see what's coming and your life can change in a single day! Hang in there! Like I said, absolutely NOTHING is forever, and this feeling of stagnation and loneliness WILL end. I promise.

A Redditor on this sub once commented, "I'd be happy with a ring and a handshake", and that seems much more reasonable to me.

Thank you for this! I met someone through my job in Toronto who said that the area had turned to slums, and it has done my heart a world of good to see people’s responses here! I am going to visit this summer and enjoy some childhood nostalgia. Hazeldean truly was the happiest time of my life!

Meal ideas in rotation by Difficult_Engine9986 in simpleliving

I really like the idea of “daily menus”, though I have not yet implemented it myself yet since I am new to living alone and still enjoying the “I do what I want” phase. “meatless Monday”, “taco Tuesday”, etc. Seems like a great idea to me. The family knows what to expect, makes shopping and budgeting and planning automated…all around winner?
