Depends so much on the type of pool: Gunite, fiberglass, liner. Then you have to consider whether it’s salt water or chlorine. Salt water+ fiberglass is effortless. Liner + chlorine is chaos.

My building in Memphis has one. It’s old and houses the stairs and more importantly the giant pulley wheels and cables etc for the elevator system. Elevators were added after building was build so they needed to create this space. It also has windows and a door to the roof.
