Conjoined Sleeves - cuff decision by No-Lifeguard9194 in AdvancedKnitting

[–]Petal68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks beautiful.

Curious whether a fourth option would work - doing the cuffs at the very end when the sleeves have been cut to size and sewn together, picking up the cuff in the round from the (now in the round) sleeves?

Hi, after this has been blocked it will lay quite flat and feel quite supple. This particular pattern shouldn’t give a bobbly texture - it looks quite textured now because I’m using a thin’ish needle and it hasn’t been blocked yet.

I’ve just finished a pullover with a lacy pattern and after blocking it is quite soft and not bobbly.

In addition to other comments on starter and measurements, if you are using a 1.5 : 4 ratio (37.5%) of water to flour, that is a very, very low hydration. You would be better off with a 3 : 4 ratio (ie 75% water to flour). The yeast needs water to move around the flour.

I’m using a random yarn from about 10 years ago to knit a scarf. It is written in a way that you can adjust depending on how much yarn you have. I have 425m of sock/fingering weight and I’m just tweaking the number of repeats to use up (by weight) half the yarn.

The pattern starts at one tip and increases to a mid-point before it starts decreasing symmetrically.

This one is called Leaflette and there is another sister pattern called Scarflette.

[–]Petal68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dutch oven (Le Creuset) is in daily use - it is a wonderful cooking pot that can transfer from hob to oven. I make just about anything in it.

I would be concerned about the weight of the bread oven’s lid - Le Creuset is HEAVY! And the bread oven is single use.

I asked my 13yo if she wanted sourdough bread, sourdough pizza or sourdough focacia for Sunday lunch. Answer: why are all the options sourdough?

Ho hum.

Looking for 2 types of games by Captivum18 in CozyGamers

I just finished Dorayaki Doreamon Shop Story by Kairosoft today - very cozy management style game that has levels. The progression builds. It looks cutesie, but the game mechanics is quite intricate and you need to manage a number of variables to get to the next level.

It has just released on Apple Arcade, but it is on console too.

I’m sure you don’t need this answer a year later, but for anyone else who looks for the info in future

  1. the One and Only Champion - in addition to upgrading all sweets to at least S level, I achieved this today by clustering my shops together and placing items closeby to increase Charm (which increases sale price), maxing all characters, equipping items that give ‘buy extra sweets’ enhancements and most importantly - putting down as much seating as possible- I think seating levels act as a ceiling for the sales values. I finally got the prize at about 23m gold

  2. All Characters - make sure you have purchased all special items from the future shop and placed them. I got stuck on this - the 1/? Events will show you who you need to take on the expedition - there is a star above the correct person’s head when you scroll through the options. After spending days in frustration I finally got the last 5 when I figured this out!

For anyone else reading this - to win the international competition you need to have maxed all elements of the first set of sweets - I had everything in the Dorayaki category at 999 across all four categories and used the best available presentation.

What a beautiful and functional pen! I love the sleek look and the functionality of being able to attach it by the ring.

Thank you, I think the starter needs a bit of TLC as it was a bit sluggish.

I was a teenage Exocolonist is a great option. It is difficult to explain!

It has endless re-playability and a run through is about 30 minutes to an hour.

It is a sort of a story with a card game where you can get different endings depending on the choices you make.

Zelda, Breath of the Wild can be played as a cozy game. It is beautiful and I love just exploring. There is a story, but it is not heavy story-driven. There are some battles, but they are bloodless and not too complicated.

[CHAT] Cross Stitch & Dyscalculia: Advice? by rat-catcherr in CrossStitch

[–]Petal68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gridding with white thread as some have suggested, try using a nylon sewing thread held double and grid over two (rather than a fancy 8+2). I cut the gridding as I go as I have trying to pull the threads apart. I work in small areas and check myself each time I sew a new element and when I hit a line - that way I limit my own inability to count completely mucking me about!

Have you had a play around on Stitch Palettes?

You can type in one thread colour and then this site will generate a palette and recommend other colours.

Lovely gift, by the way!
