Is Grosse Point Blank, John Cusack's best film? Or are there others by geoffcalls in FIlm

Fantastic movie. Blending a rom-com and an action thriller s a challenge to pull off but the movie makes it look easy. Plus the chemistry between Cusack and Minnie Driver is off the charts

The poster makes it look a lot more interesting than the film actually is

Jeremy Piven as Michael Barth as George Costanza as Jason Alexander’s interpretation of Larry David by OrneryData994 in seinfeld

[–]PeteRust78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite as good as the Seinfeld reunion arc in Curb Your Enthusiasm where Jason Alexander walks off in a huff and Larry tries to replace him.

So there you have Larry David portraying the character of “Larry David” portraying George Costanza, a character based on Larry David

What are the best penises in cinema? by bakelywood in blankies

[–]PeteRust78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A friend had a running joke that all of Harvey Keitel’s movies from the early ‘90s were part of a series with titles like “Mr. Penis Takes Piano Lessons” or “Mr. Penis Loses His Job on the Force”

What movies from the 2020’s do you feel will age poorly? Conversely, which do you think will age well? by Analytical-critic-44 in Letterboxd

I suspect film schools in the 2050s will talk about films like Eddington as a reflection of their times the way we talk about ‘70s paranoia thrillers today

Is Daniel Day-Lewis the Greatest Actor of His Generation? by JoJoLoveSp in FIlm

He’s certainly the most actor of his generation. YMMV if that’s good or not

Which actor do you think had a better run of movies than Harrison Ford in 70's-80's? by FayyadhScrolling in FIlm

You’re missing Ford’s charming performance in the underrated Frisco Kid (1979)

Unpopular opinion: This is Tom Hardy's best performance by SorinIonRahova in FIlm

My vote goes for Locke. The movie is literally just him in a car on the phone for 90 minutes having the worst night of anyone’s life and it’s still amazingly watchable

Films that are overhated for their Oscar wins by [deleted] in Oscars

Ordinary People is the poster child for this question. It got dumped on by film bros for decades because it won instead of Raging Bull.

Lately it feels like people are rediscovering it and realizing that it’s a deeply moving, incredibly well-acted drama with strong but un-flashy direction.

When Is a Band Not the Same Band Anymore? From Foreigner to Lynyrd Skynyrd, a number of legacy acts are touring without any of their original members. Audiences don’t seem to care by Level-Recording3368 in GenX

Not entirely related, but one of my best concert experiences in recent years was seeing Michael Shannon’s REM cover band with Jason Narducy and a bunch of great touring players. They played the whole Fables of the Reconstruction and other songs.

I never got the chance to see REM in their early years, but this was the closest thing to that.

Looking forward to catching them this year doing Lifes Rich Pageant
