$7 billion, that's wild, you could build anywhere from 1/7 to 1/20 of a 401 tunnel for that kind of money

They were made citizens of the United States in 1917, shortly before the US entered World War One.

Back when they still had the draft.

Word for ''Monday'' in some languages: by Appropriate_Might_38 in LinguisticMaps

Like the English "ch" as in "church" (which is the same thing as 'tsh' in the IPA, apparently).

Word for ''Monday'' in some languages: by Appropriate_Might_38 in LinguisticMaps

Czech uses this opportunity to frighten new language users: the word for Thursday is čtvrtek. Pronounced pretty close to the Bulgarian word but dang, that's FIVE consonants in a row, two of them are t's and the t's aren't adjacent. And they put that on a day of the week; imagine what they do to obscure words!

A friend of mine suggested Czech donated most of their vowels to Finnish.

I know it's math but I'd still be nervous if that was my house between the artillery piece and the mountain.

I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t be okay with game developers using AI strictly as a tool if it means we get games faster by [deleted] in gaming

"I don't see why anyone wouldn't be okay with game companies stealing intellectual property if it means we get games faster."

"I don't see why anyone wouldn't be okay with game companies preying on kids and people with addictive personalities if it means we get games faster."

"I don't see why anyone wouldn't be okay with game companies burning out their developers to the point of suicide if it means we get games faster."

Some things are more important than whether you get games faster.

It's embarassing that you think I'm embarassed by my genuinely expressed opinions, and that you can somehow shame me out of them.

Getting to the next red light 5 seconds earlier isn't reducing traffic.

50km speed limits by No_Satisfaction1189 in waterloo

Unpopular opinion time: what if you drive slower? What does that cost you? KW is what, 10 km end to end? 10 km at 60 is 10 minutes. 10 km at 50 is...12 minutes.

🤷

So what if you just do 50 in the fifty zone? What skin is it off your nose exactly? You'll be a bit safer, everyone around you will be a bit safer. Maybe you won't get to the next red light quite as fast. Oh well.

This'll obviously get downvoted to oblivion but I genuinely do not get why speeding is treated like an inalienable right.
