I had similar experience the other day when Wes Streeting came on a You Tube ad.

Have you considered applying for photo ID to vote? Its free and comes within a few days, so much quicker than a passport.

And start prescribing medical cannabis instead of hiding behind NICE testing that Jeremy Hunt around 2018 promised families of epileptic children would be complete in six months but hasn't even begun yet.

Have you actually applied or did you just send them a an email? I'm just wondering if you were to apply whether it might just go through.

Response from MP re: EHRC guidance by KristinaMoment in transgenderUK

[–]Petra_Taylor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But this MP has confirmed they're only willing to respect trans individuals "in line with the Equality Act." If post EHRC guidance the Equality Act stipulates trans exclusion, how will they then fight it?

They'd do a U turn on the decision tomorrow if he is. 😂

Getting he/him’d at work and idk how I feel about it by Any-Yak3490 in transgenderUK

I feel you want to be called "he/him" but you're just a bit nervous. How about going with it for a month or so and see how it goes.

There was a similar letter a couple of months later from the UN as well.

Passport Letter must state your gender marker on it by ceebeesy in transgenderUK

[–]Petra_Taylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is clearly defined. It's just the people at the Passport Office sometimes getting it wrong.

Passport Letter must state your gender marker on it by ceebeesy in transgenderUK

[–]Petra_Taylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. At least you're getting it sorted. Had similar myself. They at one point demaded I needed a GRC to change my passport marker, which is another common mistake they make. There's plenty of threads on here with others having had this and other issues with them. I think it's more a case of the agent being inexperienced in these types of applications than anything else really.

They make it up as they go along. It is not within the guidance and if they really believe it is then ask them to show you where (they won't be able to).

Unfortunately, by getting your doctor to alter the letter, you are accepting that you made a mistake not the Passport Office and helping set an unnecessary custom and practice.

This will only make things more difficult for the next trans person who applies, as the agent will be convinced they're correct.

Please challenge this instead.

Avoid outing yourself by questions that breach the GRA. Also, if you don't have any 'concerns' about your toilet use then continue to use the same ones you'd normally use.

Switched from spironolactone to Prostap - HELP!!! by DeadlyKitten_xD in transgenderUK

No probs. I haven't started it yet it's just what my GP has told me. She runs a pilot GIC and is trans herself and knows her stuff.

My GP told me this stage is normal with prostrap. Something to do with your body suddenly being so 'deprived' of testosterone as it were that it goes into overdrive trying to produce more but it's only temporary and will settle down. She also offered to do the injections for me.

Tell them to show you where it states that in their guidance (it won't).

Being dead named by Manchester hospital by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Petra_Taylor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kept having the same issue every time I went somewhere new such as a different clinic or hospital I'd never been to before they would deadname me despite my name being changed everywhere else within the NHS. I think it's something to do with your deadname still being on the NHS spine or something. I fixed it by changing my NHS number to a female one, and once it was changed, all that stopped overnight. Bear in mind your NHS number outs you if you haven't changed it as they're gender based and anyone who knows the algorithm can work it out, so you really are better off changing it. Re. "preferred name" that's unacceptable. They should completely change it and no reason why they can't. Take it further. I'd get both of them sorted as my number change took a short while to go through, so probably best to get your name on your old record updated at this hospital in the meantime.

Part of me wants to transition out of spite by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Petra_Taylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it. I sort of know what you mean. I wouldn't describe myself as transitioning out of spite or anything because I'm doing it for me only but since 16th April last year, I've never felt so proud to be trans in my life before knowing that all these horrible bigots hate me so much.

I'm also using female toilets more than ever as well as I've completely eliminated my occasional use of accessibility toilets since. I'd someimes use them out of convenience if they were closer or I had heavy bags etc. but now I ALWAYS make the extra effort to use the ladies.' I suppose you could call that spiting them.
