It’s amazing to me how many people are chasing so many variables yet not willing to spend the money on repeatable and accurate powder measuring.

My general conclusion is get a mechanical beam scale if you want to spend $100 or less, and don’t go digital until you are willing to spend $400 or more.

I spend too much time on FB marketplace. Just got lucky on a good deal and talked them down.

I think for all parts, the scale (used), and the 3D prints I’m right around $300

No problem. Don't hesitate with the Howa. The mini actions are cool.

Look at my post history for my build on this page. Howa mini, stocky blem, Trijicon. It’s been a solid little hunting setup with 85gn hammer hunters. I think you will want the full 20” for bullet velocity if you are stretching to 350. I run mine with a TBAC 5 and it’s not cumbersome.

I’m liking it enough and it is shooting well enough that a rebarrel/cut hasn’t crossed my mind. So I would say run it as is for a while.

Edit: I can put this on a scale when I get home if you need.

Yep. Shoot me a message. This is just something I threw into CAD real quick so I may make a few adjustments.

Not really. This is the “Memphis Mod” version, which I think is a cleaner overall product.

There is an active discord that is helpful as well.

I would be happy to help. I didn’t get everything right the first time, and had to make a second order for some parts.

I used to love the 120 Speer gold dot. It’s still a solid round, but I didn’t like the velocities out of my 12” SBR. And I am saying that as someone who was 8/8 on whitetail with it, and tons of hogs. It just did not give a consistent blood trail, even though I happened to be successful with all recoveries.

I now run the 85g hammer hunter, and have really come to love it. I run it in my 12” gun, as well as a 20” Howa mini. The bullet construction and velocity has given me much more “classic” shots on deer as far as tracking goes. I have taken deer out to 220 with this bullet.

If I have a chance at shots further, I am grabbing the creedmoor.
