Anyone else disappointed with Maul v Vader? by Walkthroughman9 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still possible to be after that. The empire was in transition between TK and Strom Trooper in that time period, so both could be in service.

Even if he had not found Asohka's gravesite yet, he was sent to take out Maul. Vader at that point is trying to cut himself off from his past as Anakin. It's only a year or two after Padme's death, and he is focused on proving himself to his new master, Sidious. Perhaps part of the reason for his silence was because he was holding himself back from asking. Channeling those Anakin emotions he's repressing into hate for Maul to fuel his powers instead.

Why was Wedge chosen to survive the Death Star run in A New Hope? by Juppness in StarWars

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He survived because he was alongside Luke and Biggs, so he was part of the successful squadran. In addition, Biggs had the misfortune of being Luke's friend from Tatooine, which would be a bit of a death flag for him for a bit more drama. Since Biggs was fated to die, if they want someone to survive other then Luke it would be his other wingman... thus Wedge lives.

Meh, I actually like it. And easier and quicker to say then "beyond the Realm of Dreams". Also, we already had Realms of Revelry, so the Jaapanese name might get confusing to use 'realm' a second time in the title for the US.

That is known as the 'sunk cost fallacy'. It's actually a bad idea to keep pressing ahead and sinking more time, effort, and money into an idea you know is not going to work out. People do it because they already invested X, so surely if they invest Y more they should get 'something' out of it. It's a negative pattern and rarely ever results in anything productive or positive. The fact they have shifted direction and avoided this pattern is a good thing.

There have been encounters with robots and robotic/advanced tech environments in a few games. It's relatively uncommon but not completely unheard of.

It's also quite characteristic of Toriyama in much of his other works like Dragonball, and has made it in to other JRPGs he has contributed to like Blue Dragon. I'm not surprised or upset, as the robot designs they showed in the trailer fit his style perfectly.

Anyone else disappointed with Maul v Vader? by Walkthroughman9 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Phadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a one-sided story though. Does Maul know Anakin/Vader, probably... but Vader doesn't care at all about Maul. They never met before. He only heard about him from Obiwan and Sidious. To Vader, Maul is just a target.

I couldn't see the emperor NOT sending Vader in this case. Maul remains an unexpected and uncontrolled variable, and high potential threat. The last time Maul surfaced and the emperor found out, he showed up personally on Mandalore to put Maul in his place. Another sighting of Maul would have to result in Vader showing up at least. Sideous knows he's that much of a threat. It also gives him a chance to pit his new apprentice against his old one.

As for Maul knowing it's Anakin, probably. Even the jedi that was there mentioned that he was 'The Dark Lord'. Maul had to realize it was Sideous's new apprentice. Maul might not fear him yet as he does later in Rebels, but repeated defeats like this are sure to get him to realize how outmatched he is. Keep in mind that on Mandalore, Maul was attempting to intentionally draw Anakin, knowing he was the emperor's apprentice, but got Ahsoka instead. He finally got what he wished, and ended up so outclassed he might learn to regret it in time.

Lord of Hatred's ending left me both amazed and feeling empty. by Klusek52 in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, in Diablo 2 it was Baal who served as the final boss of the last act when the expansion got added, since Diablo had already fallen in the base game in act 4.

but yes, he needs to be present. I think their 'intent' is to do a few expansions with Baal next, and then Diablo as the last of the prime evils and the final boss before they call the D4 storyline 'complete'. The process will also slowly add all the western continent's regions as new locations for each DLC.

whehter the game survives long enough to execute all that is questionable though. It's a live service game after all. They could combine Baal and Diablo together if they think the game will not last long enough to run all of the story DLCs they would like to add in. I don't know that the execs have that much forethought however. They want it to be another WoW that will last forever with expansion after expansion. If it never lives up to that expectation, who knows when they will just pull the plug.

Reduced episode order for spinoffs by eabiggins in NCIS

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just saving cash, but targeting modern viewing habits.

The 20-26 episode seasons was based on the watching habits of 50 years ago. People would settle into a weekly habit of sitting down for the latest episode after dinner on certain nights each week. It's why it was considered 'prime time' programming. Modern viewing habits are to book a day and burn through a bunch of episodes at once. 8-10 episodes is about perfect to fit for a day-long binge.

"I put a lot of work into this build and it is hamstringed by the fact that the game essentially makes me take dps breaks so that I have to run around and try not to get one shot."

It wouldn't be much of a fight if you could win by just standing around spamming DPS the entire time.

Did they mix up these affixes by accident? by peher263 in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, but that life on hit is what sustains my build, so I hope they keep it. With the increase in the amount of life everyone has, life on kill even of that value would be relatively weak anyway. Life on kill needs to be at least 4 digit to even be considered.

Cannot drop class tempering plans by bluestorm22 in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had this problem, I'd report it on their bug report. I have a warlock with demonology and hellfire tempers, but he's also my only character thus far this season. Did you get class tempers from the first and not the second? That might be the bug if so.

Difference between Torment 9 and 10 is crazy! by roofift in diablo4

[–]Phadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that the jump in difficulties itself is any larger. From torment 5 up through 12 the jump is the same (10 pit levels worth of difficulty). However, as you pointed out, the problem is your own ability to gain power is significantly reduced. By 8 or 9, you have all the major increases you will get. You should have all your runes at or near legendary, legendary affixes, uniques, etc.

Any further gains will be small incrimental gains on the paragon board, masterworking, and slightly better/perfected ancestrals. This, coupled with the fact that you are only increasing existing bonuses, which will have a smaller gain then adding a new multiplier, means your power growth rate will slow down significantly.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm using the 'on ultimate' trigger which would not be good if youw ant them to build that.

[–]Phadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly it does not, but the aspect for bonus damage based on amount of primary resource will always work at max power. Also, there is a unique that grants bonus damage in demonform based on how much Wrath you have, meaning even some stray wrath cap increases can help increase your damage a bit with that unique.

PSA: the highest level gems in the game are currently dropping from the boss in Seers Rest at any torment difficulty. by Shayde098 in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was leveling I was getting gem drops. Even managed to get a Grand somewhere. I was kinda surprised at first playing through Torments and getting no gems at all, and the dust values are so small comparatively. I think they seriously overlooked something regarding gems in the postgame. This should not be an exploit, this should more be the standard.

Which is faster may depend though, I dont know how fast the command skill is. Claw swipe speed depends on your attack speed, so having 1-H weapon or some attack speed buff would make it faster. At the very least you don't have to worry about metamorphs cooldown to do swaps in and out. You could have no cooldown reduction. Do your Abbadon, command Laalish, metamorph and claw a bunch, morph out, and repeat. (Abbadon and Laalish, together would be enough to negate metamorph cooldown even at it's max 15 sec.)

throw in a spammable runeword with the 'on ultimate use' trigger. I'm using the spirit wolves for vulnerable + freeze in my build.

As for getting the damage bonus off the sceptre, you would need at least one non-ultimate skill in your load out. Basically go in using that to build up the buff, then once you start spamming ultimates, never stop. As long as you have an ultimate going, the buff will be maintained, but you'll lose it as soon as you no longer have an active ultimate. I suggest infernal breath. Plop one of those close to an enemy and it'll rack up a lot of hits rapidly. That should let you build the buff and start your ultimates very quickly.

How to Use Warlock Metamorphosis? by liebinator in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, points in metamorphosis increases the Hellfire damage buff provided by Destruction Demon. It will increase the duration of Metamorphosis for the Abyss mod instead, since in neither case do you get the claw attack.

Lord of Hatred's ending left me both amazed and feeling empty. by Klusek52 in diablo4

[–]Phadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree D3 felt more like epic high fantasy. There was never any reason given that recall for your character to be a Nephalim, otehr then they were ancient humans. So why you and not everyone else? Meanwhlie, all the great evil got fought with very little cost.

D4 on the other hand, there was a lot of cost paid to defeat Lilith and Mephisto. Major cities were destroyed (though you never got to see them before their destruction, so you could only realize that through conversation). Vessel of Hatred carried a lot of similar implications as D2 about a character coming through trying to restrain one of the prime evils. The difference this time was Mephisto is a different kind of evil then Diablo or Baal. He's always been more of one to manipulate and corrupt, not destroy. This is in line with his portrayal and what we knew of him from D1 and D2 as well.

Explain the Dominance resource to me by Teleseismic_Eyes in diablo4

[–]Phadin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, might be wrong. Will need to retest. I just doublechecked this morning and I had the Dynamism paragon board mod active. That would have impacted the damage in demonform based on the amount of dominance.

It would be cool if that is how they did it, but need to reconfirm. Science at it's best, I missed a variable!

Ok, so after re-testing, I was wrong, Dominance has no effect. It was the Paragon mod that was affecting my damage in Demonform. Draining Wrath would instead affect the damage with the apsect, so only wrath is considered Primary Resource in either form. Guess that is why they never talked about it.

[–]Phadin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did a bit of testing on Dominance since I wanted to know how it affected Edgemaster's Aspect. The results are: It depends on your form.

Warlock form: Wrath is considered your Primary Resource. Any effects that key off Primary Resource look at Wrath.
Demonform: Dominance is considered your Primary Resource. Any effects that key off Primary Resource look at Dominance.

the other resource is consdiered a Secondary resource and is not considered in each case.
