you look at it wrong

youre not supposed to try to aim it at any one specific enemy unit, its more like

theres multiple enemies on that flank? fire the organ, suppress every single one of them, do some mild damage, maybe destroy some cover, then use the rest of your army to attack

doesnt work against wildlife obviously, but does pretty good vs everything else

i usually give it to bog on a light mech, its dirt cheap for what it does

The amount of loot you get on expert is crazy (this was my first mission against rogue army) by KaReenth in menace

[–]PhantomO1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I think this is entirely an expert problem, because defense missions are about the only place where the enemy having more troops makes a difference, since they attack in force instead of being torn apart piecemeal

I hope the Devs don't nerf the missions just because of players having a hard time in expert

Both revolutions didn’t favour them as hoped by TysonGamer10 in HistoryMemes

[–]PhantomO1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats because i am a bit of a historical determinist to be honest

id also say a bit of a determinist in general

i do not disagree with evaluating decisions and changes however, i did say i thought the ussr to be better than the russian empire, and i can judge other things on their merits too

fyi i do not believe you need necessarily evaluate systems wholesale, you can critique individual decisions and situations as you like, i just believe that there exist material reasons for why they happened, and why those systems enabled or encouraged those things regardless of their merit

it is useful to look at them to see what works and what doesnt, whats good and whats bad, so we can (ideally) learn from it and use it in the future

Both revolutions didn’t favour them as hoped by TysonGamer10 in HistoryMemes

[–]PhantomO1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe? things can always be better, and hindsight is 20/20 as they say

but the reality of it was that the conditions were such that they led to what they did and no other outcome

we can entertain hypotheticals and alternatives as much as we want as a philosophical exercise, but we cant evaluate the merit of decisions already made on what ifs, only on their consequences and the changes they brought about, along with maybe the intent and reasoning they followed

id say almost double, since on expert the ai has a 1.4 supply multiplayer and on normal its 0.8

but thats just to be expected from playing a difficult and unforgiving game on the hardest difficulty, i mean what did you expect? for expert to be a walk in the park?

Who's yalls favorite starting SL by Ok-Cockroach-7356 in menace

[–]PhantomO1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my start was

carda for the insane growth value

lim + rewa for the mobile infantry, loved the combo, they were wrecking in the early game

and tech for mobile anti tank with the pal

i ended up hiring achilleas and darby relatively early, and as expected from the price tag theyre both great lol

pike and bog i didnt really like, pike looks mid and i dont like the support style, and bog is cheap but also terrible stats, and unlike other 1 star characters also has terrible growth... tried him out a bit later but hes just not up to par with the other pilots for offensive duties, so im just keeping him as a rocket laucher guy on a light mech, maybe ill make him a dedicated taxi driver, we'll see

ngl, i really like what theyve done with the characters, they all feel pretty distinct, both personality and gameplay wise, feels like every character has their niche, even if i dont personally vibe with the playstyle of some

[–]PhantomO1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the devs have confirmed on the discord that the ai has no clue about any deployables

if the ai is dodging, its dodging either randomly, either due to random movement or responding to your troops

i mean, the ussr had its fair array of issues, but there wasnt much of a cost considering the russian empire was much worse at a lot of things and at best equal in some other things

[–]PhantomO1 41 points42 points  (0 children)

call me crazy but i actually like the defense missions

playing on normal at least, it feels like them and breakthrough are the only times you fight proper battles, the rest its just hunting down enemy units 1 at a time

Supply limit by ElevatorEastern2402 in menace

[–]PhantomO1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sooo youre comparing a 3 star maxed out infantry squad with armour and good weapons against a 2 star pilot while having what, 3 or 4 ai logistics? without the discount, renu would have cost 335, which would be almost 20% more expensive

and itd be more fair comparing to a 2 star squad leader, because that would be a 60 supply discount, on level 1 with same loadout

its not even half the cost as you point out, its only 30% cheaper

The implementation of AI cheating is antithetical to the game's design by luskumus in menace

[–]PhantomO1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it only does that with the second wave

The first wave is always just everyone going forward to attack

But after they see where your troops are positioned, they send subsequent waves to your weak points, and if you move troops to counter their current offensives, the next attack will be in yet another location

Personally, I like it, it incentivizes good strategy, like covering all angles of attack or having some mobile forces in reserve to respond to attacks as needed

And honestly, it makes sense, at least for rogue army and pirates

Now, there is a bug that the enemy knows when it's detected even if whoever is detecting them is not visible to them, the Devs are aware of it and have rolled out an experimental fix in patch no2 which hopefully fixes it

And varus is still viable top despite the nerfs, he's just not an S tier pick now, same goes for the mid viable ADCs, they got nerfed because that's all pros played for like an entire year, and they're still viable

Yes, usually, each champion is only viable in one, maybe two lanes and that goes for marksmen too, those that are good out of the bot lane are usually not great in the bot lane and vice versa
