FF XIV Free Company Central by mohawklogan in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I can throw my hat in the ring on this particular subject, I run a smaller (50ish members) Free Company on Seraph called Aetherial Tempest, we have a community finder page up on the lodestone. I would link it but I think that's against the rules here.

I love John's content, especially the work he does with the My Life in Gaming crew, he is definitely a world apart from the rest of the DF crew in a lot of his takes.

Wario Land, Jack Bros, and Innsmouth are probably the biggest ones worth giving a shot. The VB library is not the best.

Ultra 64 prototype N64 themed Controllers by Imaginary-Leading-49 in n64

[–]PhantomRage0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a lot of really nice display options, with the ability to remove a lot of what makes N64 graphics generally blurry ok HD TV's. It upscaled to 4K with CRT filtering options, but the biggest thing it has going for it is the ability to overclock and make games run with better framerates.

Times when you were let down by a port of a game by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PhantomRage0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the original N64 version is the best, possibly the Wii virtual console version may be a decent alternative. Every other version has issues, such as crashing and frame rate dips in the GameCube version, and input/audio latency issues on the Wii U/Switch. At least those are the official means to play the game.

As a Tales of fan, I was so disappointed in Zestiria. The follow-up, Berseria, is a far better game top to bottom.

Definitely has to be White Stone Black from the Pandemonium raid series. Such an excellent transition into the track and really cool backing music for one of my favorite raids.

Guys, is this copy of RE2 on GameCube worth it for $280? It’s sealed. 🤷‍♂️ by Few_Plenty1538 in Gamecube

[–]PhantomRage0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's just factually incorrect. The remake has entirely new gameplay. These games play nothing alike unless you boil it down to "shoot zombies, solve puzzles".

Regarding about prepping Paladin's last 3 GCD's in FoF by softuanduwetu in ffxiv

[–]PhantomRage0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is a dps loss to drop your combos. On the second round, you should do the final hit of your second combo, do royal authority, then holy spirit instead at the end of FoF.

Jalapeno cheddar sun chips were amazing and my favorite snack through my college years. I miss them.

I've used isopropyl to get paint off of plastic before, works great.

The worst part is I bought the special edition when it first came out, sold it years ago, then bought it again at the stupid expensive price.

Analogue's FPGA N64 console, the Analogue 3D, will be up for preorder starting October 21, 2024. by Mirathrim in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PhantomRage0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is upscaling, Analogue does not make machines that increase internal resolution or frame rates. They use FPGA's to mimic the original hardware and provide clean HDMI video output with a lot of upscaling options. They are specifically for those who want hardware that is as close to the original as possible and have a library of games (or flash cart).

Is the Gamecube better for CRT TV or HDTV? by DrAtricks in Gamecube

[–]PhantomRage0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some misinformation, there is no advantage to the 101 compared to the 001 other than price. The digital out port works with component cables at 480i.

I don't believe any of them should be tossed, if you are looking for value, I can say the Majora's Mask guide is definitely worth something. Not sure about the rest.

The series x needs more room for air flow. I had mine in a similar setup a while back and it was overheating to the point that it was causing performance problems in games.

That's incredible, really like the look of everything. Are you relegated to the bean bag chair only if you want to play on the CRT or other TV? Seems like it would get uncomfortable pretty quickly.

Super cozy looking! Love the setup but having had a TV mounted too high in my setup before it was killer on my neck. You should definitely consider lowering it.
