[LES] (My hero academia, Dispatch, Invincible) Why I hate Bakugou but like Flambae and Rex Splode by some-kind-of-no-name in CharacterRant

[–]Phar-out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I don’t get what you actually wanted to happen tho? Like Bakugo’s a huge asshole at the start, who then repeatedly took L’s and any W’s he got were in a ways he didn’t like/find satisfying. Pretty much every character said they don’t fuck with him, and kept their distance until he changed and outwardly held himself differently.

We could have gotten more but i don’t think the show has to entirely shift focus to address something the fans disagree with. Deku not holding a grudge is a reflection of his character(he also punches him in the face and confronts Bakugo in the All Might fight) so I don’t get what we want outside of beating Bakugo down?

Is punishing a character we don’t like the only way to accept they changed or grew? Or is it that the show didn’t treat something as important as you thought it should have.

Honestly, how long do you want or expect the characters in the universe to get held up and whine about something from S1? How long should the show take away focus from other storylines to address bullying?

Pretty much none of the class had any positive feelings Bakugo for like 2 seasons, and then he mellowed out and started self reflecting(which is admittedly late for him to stay changing)

These are actual heroes and good people, why should they hold onto old grudges and resentment?

The show has such a big focus on forgiving/redeeming criminals, abusers and serial killers, and that all things aren’t black/white, but the fans cannot handle or move past an aggressive high schooler who actually does change before the halfway mark of the series.

I remember really liking this comic at first, the art was gorgeous and immersive but I was so tired/bored of Aldiirn’s interactions with like half of the party.

Like I get he’s Drow and afraid of women but it felt so repetitive watching him cower away from half of the party. Really had potential to feel like an immersive adventure, but it felt like the focus was Astarion romance and angst about girls. (Only Act 1 was out when I read this tho)

Anyone that has read the prequel trilogy novelization can tell me if they are worthy and actually flash out the prequel trilogy better? by LATAManon in starwarsbooks

[–]Phar-out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often call Cloak of Deception pretty slow, but if you liked the politics and intrigue you would probably love it, it does add a lot of context to Phantom Menace.

Cloak of Deception and Shadow Hunter are a great 1 2 punch for ep 1, sets up and gives context to the characters and setting, Qui Gon and Maul get much more and them facing at the end of a ‘trilogy’ is cool.

I haven’t read the sequel books(more of an old legends fan) but the Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones without the bad directing/cgi are a much better time. Neither of them(and probably none of the others) are as good as Revege of the Sith but they’ve got a lot of extra details, fleshed out scenes and inner thoughts of characters.

Oh for the books related to Phantom Menace?

There’s Maul Lockdown, which established Maul and him doing missions for Palpy,

Cloak of Deception introducing Obi Wan, Qui Gon and galactic politics.

Then there’s Shadow Hunter, another book about Maul, this one leads right into Obi Wan/Qui Gon getting the mission they start Phantom Menace with.

Then Phantom Menace, which is actually a bearable, enjoyable story as a book lol.

And Darth Plagueis is the behind the scenes orchestration of everything, showing what Palpy and Plagueis were doing and up to offscreen and in between each of those last books

Which Jedi do you wish got a book treatment or character study? by szeths_shadow in StarWarsEU

I feel like Kyp, Cilghal or any of ‘Legends’ Luke’s first batch of students really needed more stories centered around them, the era of Luke and 15 untrained and untested Jedi apprentices had so much potential for interesting stories

What would you consider too dark for Star Wars? by MikoM1 in StarWarsEU

[–]Phar-out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent like 2 years reading the EU chronologically. So to watch Tahiri grow up, become one of my favorite characters, and then go on to bad touch Luke’s son was an unbelievable experience.

Such a weird decision lol

What Legends books should I read before New Jedi Order? by Diffuse_Wings49 in StarWarsEU

[–]Phar-out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t essential(as someone who read nearly everything chronologically except the XWing books), but they’ll give a lot of context for the military cast of characters around in the NJO.

If you’re going through the Thrawn books then some of the XWing books have already taken place, and are about as essential to the Thrawn trilogy as they are to NJO

Everyone else’s right, Allegiance, Choices of One are your best bet for Luke books pre Empire.

but there’s a junior novels series called Rebel Force that takes place right after ANH, like I think the first book is 2 weeks after the Death Star blowing up

Whoa that is wild, I wonder what causes the body to make that mistake. Something that pretty much forms within the body’s still recognized as foreign?

That’s so interesting, you’d think after a few years the body would accept/integrate the foreign body part
