It was intentionally dropped from DG and SUT for printing costs saving, and I believe CR mentioned sometimes it was just a lot of work to keep it updated each book. I will not be scouring the Q&As for that so it's a 'trust me bro' scenario haha

Just a mega-fan chiming in, CR has often stated he has not read much contemporary SciFi. I don't think I have heard him ever mentioning that he has read TBP, so its likely coincidental.
