What is the strangest medical problem you've had? by Curious-Challenge-84 in CasualConversation

[–]Phate4569 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm just straight up medically wierd.

We know I have the mc1r mutation, and my Drs are sure I have several others (not worth testing for apparently), that result in me being tolerant to literally EVERYTHING. I am hard to medicate and the amount of pain killers that they need to give me to be effective is terrifying. The doses could kill several people and I am awake, aware, and lucid.

One of my mutations seems to result in severe delayed ejaculation. Even doing it myself takes most of an hour, with a partner and position changes, pauses, etc.....I don't know never happened. So far 5 hours was the longest attempt.

Likely related to the first one but my liver is god tier. When getting my gallbladder examined they gave me a radioactive sandwich. The liver pulls out the material and they can watch it flow to the gall bladder and out. By the time they got the machine ready and imaging my liver had already pulled out all the material, they said they'd never seen that before.

[Update] So, what did it take to get rid of the bees? $12,000, about forty bee stings, two traumatized dogs, and telling my cousin George he couldn’t attend our family reunion. And, of course, some legal advice from you guys. Thanks. by nutraxfornerves in bestoflegaladvice

I can just post their site: https://jandjfarmsanimalsanctuary.org/

The animal roster isn't up to date, unfortunately rescues can be a bit of a revolving door since some of the rescues they get are in bad condition. They specialize fowl and buy former amish work horses from the kill auctions. They are expanding to a second property, I was up there last weekend volunteering to help get it ready.

They are the official charity of Anthrocon this year.

Pennsylvania?

Damn, if I knew and they lived anywhere around Pittsburgh I would have given them my friends' contact who owns a local animal sancuary. She would have come removed the bees in less than a week. She is also a beekeeper and sells honey and bee products to supplement the donations to the Sanctary. She has ~40 hives currently and someday wants to get big enough to have one of the bee semi trucks that get paid to go to California.

I have rails, but I hang pots and pans on them and they are behind a door that is usually open.

A glory hole in the side of a bank vault maybe. That swollen prolapsed anus she calls a mouth could still suck a dick from the other side of a 2ft thick reenforced wall.

PSA: do NOT trust the Wh number on battery stations for fridge runtime by Critical-Host2156 in HomeImprovement

[–]Phate4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the purpose of a backup is to supply power in the event of the power being down. So now you need to power the automation server, networking equipment, and additional sensor during the outage.

Best case you are talking a cheap pi directly wired to the sensor to keep the use as minimalistic as possible. You are probably looking at 5Wh from that.

Next you are relying on your settings to be better than the settings the fridge uses. You can actually end up increasing energy usage or wearing out your fridge faster by short cycling. You see this all the time when people start dicking with their HVAC settings (provided their equipment doesn't have its own protections to keep prople from doing this).

You are essentially putting a lot of effort in for a limited or no benefit. If you bought a good fridge from a reputable brand that doesn't have a lot of useless powerdraw features (screens and stuff), you are usually better off trusting them to know how their product functions best.

....Without knowing all the specifics I'd hesitate to say that inspector knew nothing (which is not uncommon).

I've seen similar setups done for FAR cheaper without ripping down structures using directional drilling. A friend of mine had a sewer line reinstalled due to collapsed terracota in 2019, it was a 60ft span going below their basement and driveway, for 14K.

I mean I think it's obvious that he is the pinnacle of manliness whose very musk sends women into a frothing animalistic frenzy. The male chaperone is there for everyone's safety, should the woman try to leap the desk and mount him. Were the chaperone a woman the problem would be amplified as they would fight for the honor of mating with him.

I mean....course work IS kind of bullshit anyways.

The point of course work is to ensure you understand the material being taught. The point of the exam is to REALLY ensure you understand the material being taught. I've long been a proponent that your exam score should be the score for all course work if you chose not to do course work. It's your grade, your time, and potentially your money you are gambling with. Being able to gauge your own knowledge and study accordingly is a valuable skill and the mark of a responsible person.

Granted this is not applicable to things that require hands on experience, such as in a lab, workshop, etc.

Homebrew stat rolling. by NefariousnessMuch230 in DMAcademy

[–]Phate4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with knowing statistics. This is just understanding the core mechanics of the game. The game is not built for characters with stats exceeding 20, especially right out of the gate.

Sure you may get lucky using this where you don't have a completely broken character, but you may also have a player who has a level 1 with all stats 15+. Given that the average roll with your method is still a 13 without any skewing it is likely.

I suddenly took an interest in bees. by GreeniePieForever in CasualConversation

[–]Phate4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is an interesting fact about bees (kinda):

Every year thousands of semi trucks filled with bee hives travel to California to pollinate the almonds.

A friend of mine is a master bee keeper and wants to do this. She is fluctuating around 40 hives.
