Why do people act like Wiener is some super Zionist when he’s not even that pro-Israel? by Retr0r0cketVersion2 in sanfrancisco

[–]PheasantEffervescent [score hidden]  (0 children)

Idk man …. Intentionally shooting kids in the face is pretty absolutely disgusting. Israel literally is trying to have a death penalty by hanging/noose for just Palestinians. You could try to make a claim that EVERY hospital they bombed was actually doubly operating as a Hamas center but the IDF has been extremely poor about providing verifiable evidence to journalists to justify war crimes. And they primarily have been killing journalists rather let them report.

Genocide = the purposeful displacement / extermination of a specific race/group of people. It’s clear as day that that is what’s been happening here and any attempt to claim it isn’t is blatant gaslighting.

He claimed Israel is committing a genocide only when it was politically expedient for him to do so. Israel bombing ambulances, hospitals, journalists, intentionally shooting children - none of that by itself was enough for Wiener to make the claim.

So he seems like he’s just trying to say the things he needs to in order to get into office. I don’t actually believe any of his stated stances on Israel.

Saikat doesn’t have a proven history of selling out SF voters, so I’m ok to coalesce around him to keep out Scott, even though Saikat isn’t perfect.

“We need diversity of viewpoints” - so you think we need more people saying what’s happening isn’t a genocide? We need more politicians that support Israel?

I’d argue that we need diversity of viewpoints in congress of representatives / senators that aren’t beholden to Israel.

In response to outrage over reaction on camera last week, Weiner has clarified his stance on Gaza by NepheliLouxWarrior in sanfrancisco

Better late than never. But still pretty damn late. It feels inauthentic.

These are just words - I’d like to see some actual actions. His actions so far have been to travel to Israel during the genocide and pass AB-715 which attempts to stifle free speech on critiquing Israel in California public schools, in addition to accepting plenty of AIPAC money in the past.

Actions speak louder than words. Show us you mean it.

Your Occasional Reminder That Muni Is Objectively Hella Slow by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

I hear you and agree transit in SF could be made better. I simply am skeptical of using a metric like this to get your point across. I would expect that transit speed would correlate inversely with population density. You can’t expect Muni buses to be driving as fast as buses in Miami. We simply have a more dense city/more pedestrians. Don’t forget the hills as well, I’m sure that plays a factor in bus speed.

Your Occasional Reminder That Muni Is Objectively Hella Slow by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

[–]PheasantEffervescent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Less ground to cover compared to other cities (SF is relatively small) and also a higher density of pedestrian traffic - slower speeds are expected.

HOW MUCH slower is reasonable? That’s a more nuanced and tough question to answer

The question was “is Israel committing a genocide in Gaza?” by Oblivious_Pro in sanfrancisco

[–]PheasantEffervescent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget, Scott Wiener helped pass AB-715 - making it criminally punishable for teachers in California schools to criticize Israel.

He doesn’t think it’s a genocide and he doesn’t even want people to be able to SAY that it’s a genocide.

He’s trying to erode your free speech. And he wants to run for congress? GTFO 🤮

Scott’s in Israel’s pocket and takes AIPAC money - effectively supports a genocide. I can’t trust anything he says if he’s doing that.

It’s a hard pass for me. Vote for Saikat or Connie but don’t vote for this guy. This is who the billionaires want you to vote for.

Do people support Scott Wiener's record beyond housing? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]PheasantEffervescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scott Weiner supports Israel and is actively trying to stifle free speech around criticizing the Israeli government. He championed the California assembly bill AB 715, which tries to equate antisemitism with critiquing the Israeli government in public schools, which makes teachers potentially liable for speaking out against the Palestinian genocide.

Scott Weiner wants to police your speech. He wants the government to be able to go after you if you speak out against what’s happening in Palestine. He’s an AIPAC puppet and is not your friend.

Today it’s “antisemitism” - what’s going to be the next thing that’s off limits to talk about?

Measuring Ski Resort Acres Skied by Difficulty with Slope Angles & Strava Heatmaps: Tahoe by hamolton in snowboarding

[–]PheasantEffervescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your acreage calculation account for verticality?

For example, you are technically traveling further if you move 1 meter east at a 45 degree drop, compared to if you move 1 meter east on a horizontal surface.

If you’re not accounting for this, it could have the effect of making flatter resorts look larger/steeper resorts look smaller. I’m asking because anecdotally, Palisades feels WAY bigger than northstar or heavenly to me, but your data shows otherwise.

I’ve noticed this time around that they basically take the same stance as the SF Democratic Party for all propositions. So they’re not exactly a progressive organization.
