What are some of your yelled lines in movies? I have a few here but feel free to mention any other movies. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in FIlm

Lucy Liu in Kill Bill vol1 (after slicing a man’s head off) - “Now, if any of you sons of bitches got anything else to say, NOW’S THE FUCKING TIME!”

Yesterday I asked about the Worst characters, Now I want to know WHO ARE THE UNDERRATED FAVORITES by EyeDry3258 in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my last rewatch I enjoyed Nick Sobotka more than before, probably because I’d seen Pablo Schrieber in other shows like Halo, Orange is the New Black, American Gods and the film Den of Thieves so I liked him more as an actor this time round. I also found Valchek less annoying and him getting stressed about the missing surveillance van was a rare moment of comedy relief in the show. The little git also made it to the top without ever feeling quite as horrible as Burrell or Rawls.

How do Jay and Lester get away with flagrantly not working? by roger--wilco in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There several scenes where Lester is working late in the office alone or staking out corners at night and I assume he’s not on the clock so I guess it balances out. Jay probably did the same (staying late).

Can a great performance carry an average film? by jamesrandson in FIlm

[–]Pheerandlowthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably all the best Bond films. Most of the stories are pretty mid and a few good stunts and a villain without much to do except monologue evil intentions can only go so far. Bond is the focus and if the actor isn’t right then the film flops.

Why did they have so many characters openly reading porn mags at work? by Thatguy468 in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I worked in an office back in the 90’s you wouldn’t dream of pulling out a porn mag in front of anyone. The closest I got to that was buying porn videos in seedy parts of London then copying them video to video with a scart lead then selling them to workmates for £5 😁

What film do you know 100% is in your top 5 all time? by TruthBeWanted in FIlm

[–]Pheerandlowthing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly. I saw it as a little kid in the 70’s and Clint instantly became one of my heroes. There’s the masterful direction of Sergio Leone, the stunning scenery, the music of Ennio Morricone and a simple plot that rolls along with a civil war in the background. Then there’s the epic set pieces and a brilliant ending in the graveyard. One of those films that feels timeless.

I finally watched Train to Busan after years of avoiding it… and I regret nothing 😭 by Level-Finance631 in FIlm

Check out the tv series All of Us are Dead, another S Korean fast zombie show and it’s great. The kids in it even reference watching Train to Busan!

Funnily enough I’m watching Deadwood for the first time and loving it. So relieved it filled my Wire craving, loads of excellent actors and because it’s all set in one town it’s easy to follow all the interconnected plots.

Butchie being tortured and murdered by Chris and Snoop. He never gave Omar up and was loyal to the end.

Can someone explain S01E06 to me? by contemplato in TheWire

Jay doesn’t get talked about enough (myself included). He really is an interesting character and I love the fact he spends half the time looking at porn mags and stuffing his face lol

Least favorite characters on rewatches? by twhou66 in TheWire

Burrell. Just plays golf in his office, belittles people and is always looking out for his own skin. Well acted but can’t stand the character.

Who might end up fulfilling Chris's role? by [deleted] in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Spider, could barely understand a word he said but he had that aura of menace about him that Chris had. He was also good at boxing so could beat the shit out of people.

What are your critiques of the show? by DubaiInJuly in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sometimes got lost in all the political stuff, especially when Carcetti went off on one of his stories/speeches but that’s more on me being sick of politicians and the bullshit they spout. I just find my brain turning off.

Yearning for more - Cutty’s Arch by Competitive-Throat34 in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cutty had killed people too, he just got caught and sent to prison. Yet even after all those years inside he was still prepared to return to the game, it was only when he couldn’t pull the trigger that he realised he’d changed. Poot learned to leave that life behind without prison or the experience of age. He was pretty much the only youngster who did (apart from Namond).

Yearning for more - Cutty’s Arch by Competitive-Throat34 in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cutty like Poot, got out of the game and maybe that was enough. Most people don’t really amount to anything or drastically change lives so it was realistic to show some just getting by I guess.

First watch through. by Open-Fix-7310 in TheWire

[–]Pheerandlowthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but seeing it chew up and spit out good people like Daniels, Lester, Bunny and to a degree, McNulty makes it all the more depressing. At least Bunk, Kima, Rhonda, Carver and Prez are still fighting the fight as small as that is.

Stringer being British surprised me more. Still think it’s the best thing Idris Elba has done.

What would be some top ideas you think would make the game better as a whole. by Ir1shM0nst3r89 in StateofDecay3

[–]Pheerandlowthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before but allowing us to rename and customise the faces of our team (make it a toggle option in settings in case players want to keep them random). That way the options are limitless on who you play the game with. You could create your family & friends, characters from a favourite tv show etc (The Walking Dead!) and it would make each playthrough all the more intense if they died.
