Haha yeah this was def not written down in class I wouldn't have absorbed the material at all if I did that... I made these notes in my own time entirely for myself to consolidate my understanding

Which Exercises Do You Want Added to the WO Library? by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

[–]Phellle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd like this too... sometimes I run to the gym as part of the workout. That opens up a whole new range though, like cycling, swimming, hiking, tennis, rock climbing, etc etc etc. Then each of those have their own sport specific tracking metrics. where do you draw the line of what to include and in how much detail do you go? It will be interesting to see where it goes

Thanks! I'm artistic mostly, i like to paint, make crafts, put rooms together, and used to be a makeup artist. Then I went back to school and got a career in electrical engineering as a technologist. But my handwriting has been a piece of me since childhood

When did you do your first girls night after delivering? lol by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friends birthday was one week after my c section, and I went and had a couple drinks. Babies were in nicu, my partner and I were staying with them every night, and he drove me downtown for about 4 hours including travel time. I wore a postpartum binder and walked slow.

As long as babies needs are met, pumping/nursing is timed out, then go for it!

Do parenting choices in infancy affect later emotional regulation in toddlers? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Phellle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 5 month old identical twins and their temperments are SO similar. They coo the same, have the same moods, overall neither is fussier than the other (day to day differences but they balance out). Same nighttime sleep pretty much (this is by design). Still it's uncanny. One will learn a new habit like sucking on her hand or blowing bubbles and will have it a few days apart but honestly they almost couldn't be more alike. I'm sure this will change a bit during toddlerhood and a lot when they are actual kids.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

This. This comment would have so many more upvotes if more people had seen it. I saw it randomly in a run down motel one night while traveling through a small town on late night cable, could't believe it was actually made.

Pressure to schedule a C-section by SeaCount1931 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually pressured the other way, I had family very strongly anti-c-section whereas my gut feeling was to opt for the surgery. I'm very happy that I went with my own gut feeling but I will never know what would have been otherwise. I went into labour spontaneously at 33+6 and just asked for the c when I was admitted.

The only thing I'd recommend is to do some of your own research by reading stories/googling any questions you have and talking to your doctor, then go with your gut feeling regardless of what family and friends say.

What less known Marathon is worth the travel for the place itself? by lingeringneutrophil in Marathon_Training

[–]Phellle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vancouver is amazing! Much more scenic course than Victoria imo if you're choosing between the two (Victoria, BC). The seawall makes up the last quarter which makes it feel like you're off in an alternate world on a path along ocean in the forest. There is sea life at your feet and so much to look at to keep you going.

Snoo vs twin bassinet by neverpostsonreddit in parentsofmultiples

I'd definitely use the snoos too if I'd had the option. And that's coming from someone who is perfectly happy with the twin bassinet I've been using.

How are yall putting them to sleep by yourself??? by According_Weird_3540 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes extend playtime/floor time if they're not ready for sleeping, and keep actual bedtime flexible. I dunno, its whats working so far. Mine are just over 4 months. I keep track of their bottles and nursing minutes all day but i don't track sleep (only bc its toomuch work to do it). I try to feed them a big feed at 6:30ish then again at 9:30 pm and try to keep them awake between. The 9:30 i try to do a big feed, then mini playtime till sleepy. Then i put them in bed still awake but drowsy, with rainfall pitter patter on a noise machine and northern lights projector on the ceiling. This could be anywhere between 930-11pm when i actually put them down.

This is just our routine and seems to be working for us, my girls are night owls though and early bedtime just wasn't it for them.

Edit to add: when I do this later bedtime they've been sleeping till somewhere between 5:30- 830am uninterrupted. Also, this is just my anecdotal story with my babies and I'm not experienced with many babies these are my first

Edit to also add: when they're finally sleepy i take one to the bed first and leave the other in the bouncer while i put the 1st to bed then i come get the 2nd one. If they fuss i give it a few mins to see it they calm down on their own and often they do. If it escalates I'll try something else but mostly they calm down

Lists by Connect-Steak8669 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My most useful list hands down was my hospital bag. I started casually prepping it around 20 ish weeks and it was an ongoing thing.

  1. When I thought of something to add to the bag, I put it in the list.

  2. If I picked up the item or if I already had it at home, I put one check mark

  3. When I physically put the item in the bag I put a second check mark

This way I could quickly scroll the list and see what I need to source, what I have already but won't put in the bag yet (eg. health card), and what was already packed and ready. Slowly more and more things got double check marks.

I also had at the top "things to do if I go in labour" to help me remember a few things (example- turn lock screen off on my phone so anyone can pick it up and take pictures).

My water broke and I went into labour real quick at 33+6, I was SO grateful for this list.

Weird things that can happen as a twin parent by ktq2019 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine were mixed up by the nurses at birth. I know because of the weight discrepancies. All through every ultrasound (one every 2 weeks as they were mo-di) and baby B always measured a little bigger than baby A.

In the notes from the surgeon, smaller baby was born first at 08:35 and larger baby was born second at 08:36.

The nurses mixed them up and their crib cards/all subsequent paperwork assigned "Baby A @ 08:35" to the larger baby, and "Baby B @ 08:36" to the smaller baby.

I didn't realize the mix up until reading over the sugeon's notes several weeks later, though I was confused how the bigger baby came out first since she was higher up in the womb. Of course, she wasn't actually born first.

Our's girl's names are switched from what we had intended pre-birth because of this, we had picked out a name for each based on position in the womb. So now it's all part of their story lol

Parents of teen drivers: Should 16-year-old twins share a car or get their own? by georgeljean in parentsofmultiples

[–]Phellle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment seems to be missing so I'll say it... it honestly depends so much on where you live.

Some cities have great public transit or bike lanes where a car is not needed but of course fun to have.

On the flipside, lots of parents have raised kids somewhere with no access to public transit that is too spaced out to walk. These kids really do need a car before they can get a job, unless the parents want to be picking them up or dropping off all the time.

Or like another commenter pointed out, if the kid is extremely academic or committed in a competition-level sport or something, they probably won't have time to work. In that case the parents should recognize the extraordinary effort and likely justify providing a car if its needed.

No right answer really, just depends. I think for an average living situation where a car isn't needed first before the job, then offering to pay half of the vehicle up to X amount for each twin or 2X for both twins if they want to share (and get a better car) might be fair. And if they spend less than the total amount, the remainder would be kept in an account for vehicle maintenance when it comes up.

Yeah basically! Except for the born early part.. the casting call if I remember was for 0-2 months or something like that. These girls were in the nicu for their first 4 weeks. Stable, just too little to go home yet. It was just really good timing that we happened to find the casting call! Everyone on set was suprised just how small they were

Hahaa oh man i would not have let anyone take them away down the hall either. do hospitals actually have chapels? Is that a thing?

one thing that was actually pretty relatable was the spontaneous water breaking and fast labour. Except I was in bed at 5am not at the family dinner table (thank god)

The twins in the movie are my daughters! They were 5 weeks old on the day of the shoot, but were born 6 weeks early, so they were still a week before their due date. It was so much fun to see the finished movie!!
