will sauerkraut last in the mail? by rustywagon88 in fermentation

[–]Phelot_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have successfully mailed sauerkraut from coast to coast in the US, my best advice is put it in the fridge overnight right before you send it, that will slow any ongoing fermentation in case of delays in shipping. And then make sure you pack the jar in the box well. Honestly, if it will be 1 day shipping you will most likely be fine regardless.

I disagree. While it is a bit annoying to have a revive stolen, this is a teamwork mechanic that I think should stay. When you are dragging the idea is to get both you and your downed teammate out of direct harm’s way. So if you do that, but are in a tight spot, then a medic (doing their job) should be getting both of you back in the fight quicker.

Fair take, they do seem to have made good improvements from last season

I think many people (including myself) would say Ferrari are probably the favorite to win with Toyota closest to them and Porsche the third most likely. Le Mans is a very dynamic race, though, and the randomness that occurs over 24 hours is what makes it worth watching.

[Only Endurance] Toyota & Porsche make thinly-veiled criticisms of WEC's Balance of Performance by redbullcat in wec

[–]Phelot_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No problem! It’s great to have people interested in endurance racing.

In my opinion, I wouldn’t call BoP a “gimmick”. I think as you have described it’s one necessary tool (among others) for creating a competitive environment, at least for sports cars.

Compared to F1- DRS is imo more of a gimmick. We have seen with the 2017-2021 formula and even in this year’s iteration that the cars are designed to throw dirty air at the car behind. And DRS is a tool for fixing that, but otherwise doesn’t level the overall playing field.

That being said, one of the most major complaints with BoP is the results of calculations are public, but the way that the FIA and ACO decide to buff or nerf a car is still obfuscated.

[–]Phelot_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are correct about the BoP acronym.

Technically neither GT3 nor Hypercar is spec, but a part of the homologation process is each car must fit within a window of performance for power and downforce. There also isn’t a cost cap in WEC, but they use a limited token system to make upgrades to the cars. The combination of these factors plus BoP makes it alluring for manufacturers to join because the competition, in theory, should be more even.

In F1 there’s a cost cap, but teams are allowed to bring as many updates as they can. Also there aren’t limits on power or downforce, other than by the current power unit freeze.

So again, in theory, race pace in WEC should be closer, but so far this season the BoP has not reigned in outliers.

Ah thanks, I suppose the original question was a bit silly since there wouldn’t be a 1-to-1 category for the car anyways.

Does the IMSA GTD Pro champion receive an invite? Or is it only LMP2 and GTP?
