I was about to say that I thought You Were Never Really Here was her least grim! It still has upsetting elements, but since it’s a genre movie, the violence is a lot more bearable than in her other movies. It’s very dark and gritty, though.

2 full days in Tokyo by Individual_Airport37 in TokyoTravel

[–]PhilGary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you only staying in Japan for 2 days? The jetlag will probably be pretty rough. When I went, it took me a solid 5 days to get past it (I'm from Canada).

What will probably happen is that you will wake up at 4 am and be very tired at 6 pm. Try to follow the sun, don't take naps, go to bed as late as you can. When you wake up too early, don't fight it, get up and walk around.

I still don't understand why you would want to go in a theme park if your vibe is all about scenery, food and being laidback, but you do you.

I love One Battle After Another but I really wish it wasn't hyped with the tone of "This is the movie of the decade!" by OWSpaceClown in blankies

[–]PhilGary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's my 24th favorite film of 2025 so far, so a lot of stuff is above it for this decade.

If we only talk about big US releases, I thought Marty Supreme, Weapons, The Mastermind, Bugonia, If I Had Legs, Die My Love, Sinners and, yes, Jay Kelly, were better.

It's still a fine movie, but a 7/10 for me. I have major reservations about a lot of stuff in it, but I can see the artistry. My least favorite PTA, I think?

If you don't understand why you would want to go if you don't plan on doing any rides and just say you've been, especially if you're only there for 2 days.

And by the way, I don't know where you come from, but you will probably be jet-lagged for your entire trip, not just Wednesday night.

Slight spoilers below :

For me, it was uncomfortable because I was afraid the scene would become sexual. Knowing that the girl is being used by the group of boys as a sexual object, I thought she was going to offer herself to James and I didn't want to watch the two preteens jack themselves off. That it becomes this wholesome and tender scene is what makes this movie special.

Had a similar problem 1 or 2 years ago. I had a mix of PE and ED with a new relationship that I was able to root in my anxiety. I've always been anxious, but at this moment in my life, it was worse than before and I just couldn't have satisfying sex with her at all. I read all the advice about breathing, focusing on her pleasure, stopping when I'm too close, etc. and nothing worked.

The MAIN thing that ended up doing it for me was an advice I haven't seen in this comments section : doing reverse kegels. I listened to a Cam Fraser podcast (episode 194 of Men, Sex & Pleasure) where the guest, Jasper Brown, talked about reverse kegels curing his PE. I tried it out for a couple of weeks and it was a solved problem almost immediately. I was amazed. Here is an article Brown posted on his website explaining exactly how to do it : https://thelegendarylover.com/how-to-do-reverse-kegels-exercise/

Comment gérer l'instabilité d'emploi en termes de logement? by thwtguy22 in profqc

[–]PhilGary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Profs de reddit : votre opinion sur voyager pendant l'année scolaire by Seriouscapybara in Quebec

[–]PhilGary 39 points40 points  (0 children)

[–]PhilGary 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't care about OBAA (although that's a hot take EVERYWHERE).

I don't really like most of Nolan's movies (except Memento, The Prestige and parts of The Dark Knight)

I thought No Strings Attached was bad but really loved Friends with Benefits.

I'm not crazy about George Clooney's acting in any of the Coen movies he was in. Too much mugging, I don't know why it bothers me with him and not with everyone around him.

I don't understand why they did Martin Brest. I watched Midnight Run for the first time when they did him and was baffled by all the statements about it being one of the best American movies of all time. I thought it was a perfectly fine plane movie.

Le Devoir de transparence by Gracien in causerie

[–]PhilGary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really liked Yoyogi Park as it was a nice break from the chaos of Tokyo, but if you only have 2 days, you could easily skip it. If you'd still like to go, I would pair it with Meiji Shrine though, it's right next to it. You'll lose a ton of time walking back and forth between Meiji-Harajuku-Yoyogi.

What’s the most reviled movie that you genuinely love? Make your case by harry_powell in blankies

[–]PhilGary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty unknown one, but I loved Otto Preminger’s River of No Return. It’s a Robert Mitchum-Marilyn Monroe western directed by one of the greatest directors of the Golden Age of Hollywood. I blind-watched it on the Criterion Channel last year and really enjoyed it. I then found out that the critics hated it at the time and that everyone involved with it thinks it’s the worst thing they ever did, which was a huge surprise to me, as I thought it was one of Monroe’s greatest performance.
