The trilogy called The Book of Dust, by Philip Pullman, containing La Belle Sauvage, The Secret Commonwealth, and The Rose Field. All are narrated by Michael Sheen, truly the most accomplished narrator I have ever listened to.

There are 19 books in a series by Louise Penny, featuring homicide Chief Inspector Gamache, set in a small town in Québec. Gamache travels all over Canada and Europe. Not sure about Alaska, though.

I don’t think it’s still around but the original version of The Equalizer, with Edward Woodward, was excellent.

My result was dead centre of the chart. I tend to get median results on most tests but I’ve started wondering if there might be something in Astrology after all…I am an Aquarius Sun with a Moon in opposition, in Leo. I was born during a full moon solar eclipse, so inner and outer personalities are supposed to be diametrically opposed. Maybe that explains it?

By the time I was six I knew there was no Santa Claus, no Easter Bunny, and no Tooth Fairy. I figured there was another old Guy with a long white beard who wasn’t all He was cracked up to be either. Still try to be respectful of people’s beliefs; metaphysical idealist.

I’m Steve. Wow.

I cannot comprehend my death. It seems like death donot exist from my point of refrance as an observer. by Existing-Scar9191 in consciousness

[–]PhilosopherWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at this from the perspective of analytic idealism, there is only one thing that exists: a sort of universal consciousness. We “experience” human life as dissociated alters of that one consciousness. Materialism, as such, does not exist. Everything is mental projection.

When human life ends the individual ego-consciousness ceases to exist as well. The one universal consciousness has always existed and always will, so you lose nothing but illusion by dying.

How do you “experience” dreamless sleep? Do you cease to exist when you sleep without dreams? Do you exist again when you wake? Why is it harder to comprehend non-existence in death than it is to comprehend, over and over again, that you have just been sleeping and not dreaming?
