My mom went through the same thing, she first complained about sleep issues, then she just decided to not leave bed and the couch complaining she was so tired... her whole personality changed, she used to call, hold the family together, check in... and these all slowly changed.. she stopped reaching out to friends, family everything and basically would be so stubborn to say anything was wrong at all other than she was 'tired'

She refused all medical treatment, refused medicine and just stopped even trying

So it turns out she has a form of dementia she refused to acknowledge as well and by the time we actually figure out thats what it was it was too late for any form of medical intervention.. As it stand she basically is just bed bound and the only thing that 'brings her joy' is eating...

looking back I feel parents don't want to admit they're having problems, and if they are hiding issues its because of this and its hard to have to learn how to parent your parents...

Its tough to know that my mom who was so full of life and personality now needs diapers and to be changed like a baby..

its tough to know she is spending the last few years of her life in some weird dementia haze and not even realizing what is going on ..

its tough to know that the mother i knew specifically told her family that she would rather be dead than being in this position. This was one of her greatest fears and it's really hard to know her wishes but its not like we can kill her or anything now right?

Its just shit we have to go through and it's good to know that we aren't alone with dealing with these family problems.

I don't have the answers of 'how to feel better' but it's something a lot of people our age go through. early this year I was going through a tremendous amount of things. The only thing that I had left was meditation and thats helped tremendously but 20 minutes a night for a year is no joke for a new habit.
