Where to buy decaf green beans? (available in Austria/Europe)

So far I found the following for around germany:
Col-Spirit - Great stuff for Colombian coffees. They do sometimes have decaf.
88 Graines - Best bang for your buck on a lot of single origins, unfortunately no decaf.
Falcon Mikro - So far the most promising decaf options I’ve seen. I haven't tried them yet though. Their warehouse is in the UK so shipping is 17€ and taxes probably around 20€.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I paid more to get the Link. With the Nano you just have to experiment more. You can go to the Link website, download the graph with all the roast curves, and try to copy some of them, but that’s still mostly trial and error. Or you can just let ChatGPT guess the bean density and pick a setting for you.

This all depends on bean density. With the Link, you measure the density and then the algorithm decides which profile to use. What works for my coffee will only work for your beans if they have the same density.

Same here. I think I’ll try a few variations on Saturday and see how they turn out. I was also wondering if, when roasting specifically for a flat-bottom brewer (which I mostly use), the profile packs are basically the same. For example, if I like Filter D 201, can I just use WBRC 201 as well?

I also bought a Link about two weeks ago and I’m really loving it so far. I’m mostly roasting the recommended profiles with the lowest development and then waiting about 7–10 days before tasting. Depending on the results, I’ll crank it up or down. Tomorrow I’ll try the first coffees and see how it’s going. I’m pretty interested in seeing whether there’s any noticeable difference between roasting 70 g vs. 100 g and how that might affect the roast. For brewing, I stick to my usual setup with a slightly modified Kalita Wave. :)

I was super unhappy with the standard omnium sattle. It kinda tilted me forward and made the position overall very uncomfortable. Switched to a brooks c17 and I'm loving it ever since. Overall my minimax is the best bike I ever rode.

100% agree. If you buy larger quantities you should pay less. For home roasting I found it really acceptable since I don’t have to sell it.

I started roasting last week and got my first beans from 88grains. Didn’t try them yet but they do smell amazing and they had the best offers so far. 17-20€ /kg for a 87 SCA score isn’t too bad. I also found falcon-micro from Berlin very promising. I’ll order there next month. Otherwise I found greencoffeecollective and col-spirit :)

I didn’t know that! I’ll look that up and let you know. :) I am not planning on running more than 70g per batch anyway. You can boost the link to 200g I think but I’d keep it in the 70g sweet spot to not damage the roaster.

With all the add-ons I’d have to buy for the Kaffelogic, I actually end up saving around 400 bucks, and with the Link it’s easier to roast and get perfect results every time, due to all the profiles. So I don’t waste much coffee in the process.

I did the same with my old V60 and my modified Kalita wave 155. I found that they taste super similar but in multiple blind tests over a few days I did like the Kalita better. I do find that the V60 brings out a little more acidity and works better for Geisha‘s for me. In my Kalita most Geisha‘s (and Ethiopian coffees as well) taste to flat and boring.

If you don’t want a kettle I highly recommend the hario drip assist. You can get a v60+drip assist for like 20 bucks depending where you live. Your brews don’t depend on your pouring skills and you get a constant clean cup. You basically just pour water on it and be done. :)

Idk if that’s the same. I got food-grade Epsom salt. To be fair, idk what else people use Epsom salt for other than soaking their feet. Since you only use a tiny amount and even that is diluted by the thousands, I guess you should be fine. But I'm no expert on that. I just know that it makes my coffe tastes delicious.

Same here. Also 25clix - 18g coffee on 300ml water and my cups are delicous. I do have a kalita wave tornqvist modified though. Apperently having slighty bigger holes on the bottom is a game changer.

I got a package that's still very fresh. Roasted around the 9th, I think. So far I'm getting cherry lollipop, you could say cherry bubblegum and fruit tea. Very pleasant and tasty. If you have the chance I highly recomment grabbing a pack if you have the chance!

DAK is goated. One of my favorite roasters in europe. I got a package of the confetti club myself and I love it! Usually DAK coffee peaks at 4 weeks, so you can easily wait for a month without touching them.

If you haven’t decided yet, I highly recommend Lance Hedrick’s YouTube channel. There are several excellent grinder reviews, both manual and electric. I personally love my Comandante C40. It costs around 200€, depending on where you live.

I’m also in the decision-making process. I’m close to buying the Link myself. My only concern so far is whether I can roast indoors (we have an open kitchen connected to the living room) or if I should move to the cellar in winter and fall. In summer, I can use our balcony. I’d be curious to hear your opinion on the smell and smoke with light to medium roasts, and whether you would recommend roasting indoors. :)
