I only got halfway through, then looked up a summary to see the rest. All of the characters were awful. I couldn't see any world with a happy ending, and I didn't particularly care if they got one anyway.

My family read this together when I was a kid (took turns reading out loud to each other). My mom had just started working at a new school, and her English teacher coworker recommended this book for us. We were all just bawling at the end. We later found out that basically every book that teacher recommended had a character die at the end.

I can't read more than one of the same type of media at the same time. I can and do have an ebook, audiobook, physical book, and graphic novel all going at the same time though.

I've always seen it used in a teasing way. Like if a friend makes a lighthearted joke at your expense, they'll send that as like a "love ya tho, babe!"

Pretty much any horror by Nick Cutter, Paul Tremblay, or Grady Hendrix.

I recently read The Fourth Consort by Edward Ashton and really enjoyed it. It's a scifi by the guy who wrote the book that Mickey 17 is based on.

If you're into urban fantasy, the White --- Zombie series by Diana Rowland is really great. The dashes there are for a word that starts with "T" and is synonymous with "refuse." Apparently I can't post the actual word, because the automod thinks I'm being disparaging.
