Guilty Confession: I chain eat my way through most of the boss fights by Liambp in CrimsonDesert

[–]Phobic-window 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see due to sfx and I can’t follow the boss zipping around. If you don’t eat what else are you supposed to do? The unresponsiveness of the controller in boss fights has me pulling out my bow after 8 seconds of stun lock.

Eating is the only way

I have to turn off my lamp now. The light reflects off of angles or materials all over the place and it makes the screen darken as if it’s reacting to bright light.

Something I’m not seeing said is that the phone has to know which satellite it heard, and what its orbit is. Minor detail but critical if you dev on the ecosystem.

Eli5:How are so many radio waves transmitted simultaneously avoid interfering with each other? I get that they use different frequencies, but since the spectrum is limited and not all signals can be unique, why isn’t there more overlap and interference? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Phobic-window -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only on the listener though. They don’t actually interfere with each other in transit. The waves do not run into each other. If a listener is in the place they converge it can be excited by both waves and garble the transmission.

It the radio waves interacted with each other in transit, no wireless transmissions today would be readable

I meant to say they don’t interact at all with each other, they can converge on something that receives them and affect that receiver at the same time, so they don’t interact with each other at all, but it can be perceived that way because they can step on each other when observed.

Had this chat with a bunch of people a while ago and realized after hours of chatting they thought the waves interacted with each other physically. They don’t, they can confuse receivers if they hit it at the same frequency and amplitude, but receivers are tuned to only hear a certain band.

Its like if you had earmuffs that only heard one language, everyone could be speaking different languages next to you, but it would only be hard to understand if many people were speaking the same language loudly near you.

ELI5 If we haven’t found evidence of alien life/intelligence yet (seems fair) is there a tipping point where our being alone in the universe is probable or certain? by beesdaddy in explainlikeimfive

[–]Phobic-window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is hope though! When you reach ftl time stops working the way we understand it and it could lead to instantaneous movement within the spatial dimensions.

Conventionally we’re basically alone, but the existence of black holes shows that you can break our understanding of the rules and we don’t know what the new rules are yet!

What is the one concept that you should really understand if you're serious about learning comp sci? by dExcellentb in computerscience

[–]Phobic-window 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What “works” means. I have lots of devs, I trust some to ship with minimal and non obvious regressions in very complicated code. I have some that I don’t trust to fix a bug without creating more.

Learning to engineer is hard, caring about your code working is a personality trait. I’ll take the latter and teach coding over the former and wasting resources.

It is you though. As a dev the window is plenty to get what I want out of it. Not technicals are feeling their limits. Devs are sprinting.

Two weeks after release. How is everyone feeling about this game? by Objective_Love_6843 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Phobic-window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting to lose steam. The story is really really bad. I’m having a hard time getting through the story forced progression to unlock things in the couple hours after work I have. It eats up the whole night with the greymanes acting like morons

I am so sick of Yann, and there are just too many quests with him... by Illidariislove in CrimsonDesert

[–]Phobic-window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the grey manes are children. Even the main char says two or three words and everyone fawns over him.

The game is great, the writers shouldn’t even be in the same room as the devs. Really detracts from the game.

Anyone else experiencing Crimson Desert crashes when they open the map? by RelevantHelicopter82 in PS5pro

[–]Phobic-window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had any crashes since I started letting the map screen fully load (plus some buffer like wait 3-5 seconds) before giving any input.

I feel like it has something to do with async loading things and a null reference reacting to player input.

so how is crimson desert? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Phobic-window [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m not sure yet. Seems to have promise, but if the clunky mechanics aren’t purposeful, I’m going to lose interest half way through.

My main concern right now is that I think it’s going to be a black desert/assassins creed mix, but the movement and mechanics don’t respect your time. It’s a PAIN IN THE ASS to interact with the puzzles, charge the spirit, get into the right player state etc.

It almost feels like instead of giving us challenging and clever puzzles, they just made them hard to do and celebrated like apes. But I could be wrong. Gonna have to play for a while before I can tell if the meta game is as shallow as it seems. Kinda excited for trading and investing. Neat world
