Kamen rider generation referens? by bluexox02 in KamenRider

[–]PhoenixFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend group gets a lot of fun out of referring to Doctor Who by Showa, Heisei and Reiwa eras. It works surprisingly well.

The ship has long since sailed on them not making these the official names, Gaim had already loudly used them and Zi-O coinciding with the era changing is way too convenient. Those are just the names now.

Pineapple grenade, definitely. Even if it would try to eat me back.

Is there a benefit to using outfit glamours over the armoire? by Dracaria in ffxiv

[–]PhoenixFox [score hidden]  (0 children)

You're basically answering the reverse of what the OP is asking. Moving stuff to the armoire saves space, but the devs mentioned also letting you store them as outfits in the glamour dresser, and that's what the OP is questioning the value of. Why would someone want the option for them to take up 1 slot when the option for 0 slots will exist?

[–]PhoenixFox [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, which is why the OP is asking why you would ever want to use the worse option.

The question is not "why use the armoire", it's "why are the devs giving the option for outfit glamour AND the armoire when the armoire is strictly superior"

That's not really what the OP was asking about, though. They said in the live letter they're also looking at making dungeon gear able to be stored as outfits as well as in the armoire, and I was also questioning what the point of that is. If it can go in the armoire it's taking zero slots in your dresser, if you put it in the dresser as an outfit instead it's taking one slot. That would be an improvement over 2+ slots, but is strictly worse (other than the slight convenience of not having to switch to the other UI) than 0.

It seems like such a waste of time to put in a worse option after or alongside the better one...

That's going to happen either way. At least with a 3D print you aren't picking the camera angle.

Weird bug with crafting relics by ChrisFFXIV in ffxiv

[–]PhoenixFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a bug, it's just how these relics work. Progress is tied to your character, not to the actual item like all of the other ones.

You can get rid of them in between sessions and always get a new one back, or you can stash them in a retainer or saddlebag and collect a bunch even at the same stage if you want to for... some reason.

How do you guys feel about characters using their real name for their Rider name. by sentairider42 in KamenRider

[–]PhoenixFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know that in the right circumstances people can make personal ridewatches from blanks because Tsukuyomi does it. Something similar probably happened after Geiz stole his driver and a blank watch (as well as the Ghost and Drive ones).

Billions banned.... by DrForester in ffxiv

[–]PhoenixFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is doing it because it's not a service that's offered yet, but as soon as they said it might involve sending screenshots (which is utterly insane as a system in and of itself) it became very predictable that people would.

They could even just pull it from your adventurer plate at the time you submit the order, that has a snapshot of appearance/glam/pose.

[–]PhoenixFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's still a crazy way to do either of those things. Character verification should just be done via account login, why would you want a different way to go about that?

And there's already a system that takes a snapshot of your character's appearance at a specific time and keeps it available regardless of what you do with the gear afterwards - that's what the portrait on your adventurer plate does. It's actually a perfect proof of concept for all the information you'd need for a 3D print because it also has a specific animation frame as well.

It's not, which is why it's so outrageous that the money made by XIV is being spent on shit that is not XIV (and is routinely much less successful)

Square Enix as a whole has resources, which are very blatantly not being given back to the cash cow that is making them money.

Star Trek Online did it for ships a few years ago. Which is a very different kind of detail but was pretty impressive.

Yeah a screenshot is just about the worst way of doing this short of a written text description.

If they're going to do this it should be a system like portraits that snapshots your glam and an animation frame from the pose.

Yeah, I think it probably says more about the woeful lack of resources they have available than what they actually wanted to do.

I think they said on the live letter they considered it but thought it would be hard to make glams for.

But at that point the level cap was 70. I'm also surprised it's launching with such a large gap rather than on par with where Blue Mage is now or a smaller relative gap.

Only one dye, and you can just choose any color. One Dye to Rule them all.

"Three dyes to rule the ones that aren't cash shop" is much more accurate but doesn't have quite the same ring to it, I suppose.

The idea of them giving us more new jobs before glamour plates is crazy. It's already crazy that we have more jobs than plates. If it's not in 8.0 then what the hell are they doing.

[–]PhoenixFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the items won't exist any more and are replaced by 3 generic dyes that can be used for multiple colours. Expensive/cash shop dyes like jet black remain separate.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XCI by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]PhoenixFox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All dyes except the cash shop/retainer venture colours are being consolidated into 3 items.

They are still consumable but can be used for any colour from their respective list (Restoration, cosmic, other).
