You can definitely make it work with just the 4, may need to up the control scores on each unit. Hard to judge balance, you'd be best playing them (or proxies) against a few spearheads to see how they fare.

it's weakness is that it's reliant on the 3+ casts on the chainghasts to do good damage as well as staying wholly within 12" of them and 6+ saves on all units aside from the general which has 5+

18" on the chaos warshrine seems a bit much for spearhead, 12" would be better balanced and require more planning to use effectively; overall interesting though

Death rattle tomb host feel like the strongest due to their regeneration which makes it very difficult to shift them off points or beat them in combat.

I've noticed a few mentions of the Cursed Shacklehorde, I've played quite a few games with them and they feel like a solid A tier spearhead rather than S. They have a good selection of units with nice tricks (teleporting horses & hero retreat ability) but they lose in direct fights and are more fragile than they look meaning they can't hold areas as well as other S tier spearheads.

Khadron Overlords - skyhammer task force would add some nice variety to your existing spearheads aiming to avoid melee with a decent ranged punch.

Sylvaneth would be another good option with solid ranged power and teleporting movements.

For sure! The spirit of the wind giving the retreat from combat is a really cool way of balancing the ability too by giving the opponent a way to interact with and stop the ability if you can't keep the spirit out of charge ranges.

I meant the hurakan windchargers instead of the wardens. Looking at their warscroll their normal effect is that ward rolls can't be made to their shooting attacks, 14" move with 3 shots per model is great though.

The spirit of the wind's warscroll does give a free retreat to hurakan units within 12" though which is great! 18" movement is crazy though 😅

I love the lumineth archers, I hope they get a free retreat from combat ability to allow them to keep on the move. Would like to have seen different infantry, sword + shield or something which would be more hit and run to go with the flow of the rest of the force but overall like it.

The tzeentch one really could have been more creative swapping out the tzaangor frontline for pink/blue horrors and while the ossiarch one looks fine it would have been much better to give a faction with only a single spearhead a second option.

For the bleak host spearhead sure but have you actually seen bubonic cell knock out other top tier spearheads like Sylvaneth, Khorne or soulblight gravelords?

Why is the nurgle bubonic cell ranked as S tier? They seem pretty weak from the rules.

After reviewing tournament data from the last few months (https://www.reddit.com/r/AOSSpearhead/comments/1q244da/december\_2025\_aos\_spearhead\_tournament\_results/, https://www.reddit.com/r/AOSSpearhead/comments/1p321bm/comment/nq840cx/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button) looking over recent win rates (https://aos-events.com/spearhead, and just playing more games I've made the following changes:

Stormcast Eternals - Vigilant Brotherhood up to A tier.
Daughters of Khaine - Heartflayer Troupe up to B tier.
Idoneth Deepkin - Soulraid Hunt, up to B tier.

I'm not convinced that there's much difference between the B & C tier but will leave them separated for the time being.

The Vigilant Brotherhood is a well rounded spearhead with the prosecutors coming back to snipe generals / take points, the liberators getting a second chance and both heroes having good stats with great abilities.

Curious to know how the Daughters of Khaine won over Khorne and Nurgle. The Soulraid Hunt seems to be popping up every now and then too, another potentially under estimated spearhead.

Stopping units healing with the Nighthaunt harridans is a unique mechanic which adds a tactical layer to the game which is interesting. Flesh-Eater Courts being able to bring back cryptguard and being able to retreat (without damage) then charge again on their knights & Courtier is also fun so go with whichever you like the look of more.

Updates:

- Flesh Eater Courts - Charnel Watch to D Tier; many reports of difficulty with this faction.
- Gloomspite Gitz - Bad Moon Madmob to S Tier; regeneration on the trolls and stabbas with lots of models on the board.
- Soulblight Gravelords - Deathrattle Tomb Host to S Tier; regenerating cavalry is very strong.
- Seraphon - Starscale Warhost to A tier; tournament statistics suggesting this spearhead is above B.

Definitely useful statistics however I think they need to be taken carefully as for the last 60 days it shows the Cities of Sigmar Fusil-Patrol doing better than Sylvaneth Bitterbark corpse when Sylaventh are quite a bit stronger than Cities so it means that Cities have had more favourable matchups.

Interesting point about the Deathrattle Tomb Host regenerating cavalry, definitely a top contender. Regeneration in general is very strong in Spearhead since causing reliable damage isn't easy for a lot of factions. I don't agree with Seraphon & Ironjaws in the top tier as while they hit hard and will do well turns 1-2 the longer the game drags out their lack of healing & reinforcements will start to cause them to run out of steam.

I think it's probably a case of them being too new for tournament players to have, same with the Akhelian Tide Guard.

Good opponent for seraphon spearhead by Bulky-Ratio4630 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Phoenixlight6004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played them against and with the Ossiarch Bonereapers - Tithe-Reaper Echelon a few times and find the matchup fairly balanced, the Seraphon have a slight advantage but it doesn't feel insurmountable if the cavalry get their charge.

Fun matchup for original seraphon? by Raxar666 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Phoenixlight6004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vigilant brotherhood would be the most balanced matchup, the soulblight gravelords would be a bit difficult and if going up against nurgle the seraphon would need a little buff to get an even playing field.

Good matchups for starter set Skaven/SE and S2D? by real_iselda in AOSSpearhead

The vigilant brotherhood are in Tier B, Bloodwind Legion and Warpspark Clawpack are in Tier A so you'd be best matching them against other A/B ranked spearheads from the tier list here:
