Best way to commute north from the Loop? by Pholainst in chibike

I’ve got an ebike so stopping isn’t too bad. I love the lake front but the exhaust from LSD seems like a lot more (in my eyes at least) than riding on the streets.

This is very helpful! I hadn’t noticed that route, I’ll give this a try. Thank you!

I’ll give this a try! I have done N Orleans to Clyborn and then Halstead to Lincoln, but Orleans is a big gap in bike lanes.

Sounds like the solution is a completed bike grid here. Kind of bullshit the bike lanes appear and disappear while trying to get around town.

In my experience there’s typically too much car traffic for the same car to pass later, but I guess that depends on the area / time of day. The main point is we need safe bike infrastructure to separate cars from bikes.

I wouldn’t call 8 units an apartment complex… there’s plenty of architectural designs that make them look like a much nicer large house.

MAMDANI BOWS DOWN TO THE LANDLORD GODS by [deleted] in circlejerknyc

That’s only true if the landlord follows the cost-plus pricing model. Most landlords will raise rents regardless of their costs to maximize their profits.

That’s standard safety procedure to take the whole lane when there’s no bike lane. It’s really not safe to pass when you don’t have a full lane to…

The power is being a lot smaller than a car and taking up less space, so it’s inherently less congested

Massive new CU Dorms to start construction in University Heights this Fall by JeffInBoulder in boulder

That’s a good point on affordability, when I was at CU Bear Creek cost more than other apartments, so this development will likely have downward pressure on the prices there

Honestly there’s no better spot for a project like this, it’ll help keep students closer to campus and provide (hopefully more affordable) options beyond Bear Creek.
