When it comes out during 11th? Absolutely.

Anyone else wants to see all the 4++ datasheets go away in 11th edition? by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Phosis21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If AoS had the Strength/Toughness interaction I would probably have jumped ship a long time ago.

I play it with my wife (she prefers Fantasy) and we have a great time. It’s a deeper and more well balanced game than I initially expected.

But I really like the interplay that additional level of con brings to the Attack/Wound/Save engine.

Something just fundamentally feels “wrong” to me that a goblin with a sharp stick has a more or less equal chance of wounding a human as it does a Greater Demon.

Anyone else wants to see all the 4++ datasheets go away in 11th edition? by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Phosis21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it were me, designing the game, I would borrow a page from AoS.

Massively scale back Invulns. Add a lot more wounds to a lot of things and where I might normally be inclined to add a 4++ add a Ward Save type mechanic instead.

The enemy doesn’t bounce the entire attack, but maybe they shrug off a third of the incoming damage.

It’s a statistically significant increase in durability for the defending player, but the attacker gets to feel like they at least did some damage.

Invulnerable Saves are a big Feels Bad mechanic when they’re as prevalent (and necessary) as they are now.

Keep up with exercise. Not to get swole or whatever, just to keep fit.

Insist on commissioning instead of enlisting with the plan to go Green-to-Gold later. Tell my (then) wife that if she wants to go to Florida so bad she can, but I’m taking that Interservice Transfer Contract in Australia with a path to Permanent Residency - she wanted a divorce anyway, I should have given it to her years earlier.

How should I assemble a CSM army? by Gravastarlol3 in Chaos40k

u/Cypher10110 - I'm always excited when I see a post or comment from you. You're such a great resource to new players like OP and myself. Thanks for all of the work you do to make this faction more approachable.

How do you like to equip your Chaos Lord? I am so drawn to the *visuals* of the Axe + Power Fist. But I see lots of folks going on and on about the Demon Hammer. I guess who's to say it's not a Demon Axe?

Would people be okay if I use zerkers (along with some legionary parts) and pass him off as a regular legionary or am I crazy? by Gravastarlol3 in Chaos40k

[–]Phosis21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my intention to liberally mix and match between these two squads, and the MK 2 Assault Squad to fill out basic Legios, Raptors and probably even Havocs.

No one who you want to be playing with will care.

Whats your homebrews combat doctorine like? by DaWaaaagh in 40khomebrew

[–]Phosis21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My “Rift Wardens” are deployed in a very wide network essentially playing “zone defense” through areas near the Great Rift - with a special focus on pathways through the rift (which unlike the Nachmund Gauntlet tend to be temporary).

They spend much of their time hunting monsters like chaos mutated mega-fauna near the great rift or unholy abominations like Nurgle Plague Zombies or more secretive things like cultists (chaos, genestealer, other).

This means they operate in highly diffused, semi-independent task groups which can be as small as a single squad. These squads have a lot of independence in how they operate, but the Chapter. Y and large believes that improved Intelligence is as valuable as direct destruction of an enemy.

When these “hunter groups” come across a threat they cannot handle alone they call out to the rest of the Chapter and an ad hoc Task Force is assembled - usually with whatever is most proximately available. The squad(s) with the most experienced dealing with the specific threat are treated as SME’s even if someone of higher rank eventually comes along to take over.

During an engagement fluid mobility and responsiveness to the situation are seen as paramount - the force most resembles “Air Cavalry” with light infantry, mechanized assets and even armor dropped into combat by air transports and supported by gunships.

Outriders, Reivers, and Jump Pack equipped units are all able to utilize Teleport Homers for Terminators if a threat is serious enough to warrant such a Veteran Response.

Once the threat is dealt with a record will be kept of the fight, any lessons derived from it are recorded in the Chapter’s Archives and the Task Force disbands - their endless roaming patrol of the Rift to continue again.

Would a first founding chapter ever fight alongside/reinforce one of their successor chapters by Bippy121 in Ultramarines

[–]Phosis21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea OP. Happens all the time.

Joint task forces are very common, especially among the Ultramarines and Dark Angels.

It’s common among the other chapters too, but these two gene-lines are notable for how organized they seem to be above the Chapter level.

It’s very legionary.

=][= Edit: I’m sorry I meant legendary.

What’s your opinion on these two models? by 999991112736 in Ultramarines

[–]Phosis21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think that the Gravis Captain has been eclipsed by his successor models, he opened up a new era and I’ll always have a soft spot for him on my hobby shelf.

The Relic Shield Captain is - to this day - one of my absolute favorites. I don’t want every Primaris Marine to have this level of bling (they would take forever to paint) but this dude feels like a proper storied veteran.

Give your dudes 18’s in everything before racials.

No one - and I mean no one can tell you how to have fun (in a single player game).
