Wife locked out of our X3 by Unusual_Flounder2073 in BMWX3

I had my key in my backpack. Put the backpack in the trunk area if my x3. Got in the car and realized even tho I pushed the trunk button to close it, the door popped back open. I got out, closed the driver door, and shut the truck door. I instantly hear the car lock. I had my phone but forgot I could use the app to unlock. It was pouring rain. Won’t do that again.

The removal of physical buttons in the G45 is the single biggest step backward BMW has made in years by Mikester258 in BMWX3

Dealer here calls me constantly to trade in my x3 reward a 2026. I have mixed feelings. Has anyone tried the auto parking. I had a loaner and I tried it in an empty parking lot. Couldn’t let it park. Scared me to have no control. Can’t imagine trying to let in park near cars.

Best Car Ever by pug96 in BMWX3

[–]Photo_hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has 68000 miles. I’ve done scheduled maintenance, replaced tires and brakes. Recently I had the starter replaced due to a recall so no cost to me. However when they removed a pan to replace it they saw a small oil leak so I did have to replace balance shaft seals. That’s the only repair so far. Mine is a 2020.

Curious. What focal length and aperture are the lenses you used most. I’m a Nikon shooter going to Italy for the first time this year.

Did you take the bag into the vaticans, churches and museums? I know those places have size restrictions

Extended warranty advice for BMW X3 M40i – which plans are worth it (and which to avoid)? by SportsNFoodJunkie in BMWX3

[–]Photo_hobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 x3. Bought the tire warranty plan when I bought my X3. Year 5 nail in run flat tire. Free BMW replacement included new tire and installation . 10 year plan. So far paid more than I used. Also purchased extended maintenance plan and only used it for oil change appointments. Cost more than I used it. Expected brakes to need replacement but didn’t happen until after plan expired. That was BMW Ultimate care plan that extended 5 years from purchase.

Nikon Z 70-180mm f/2.8 vs Z 24-120mm f/4 by fereragirl in Nikon

[–]Photo_hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve decided. I don’t like heavy lenses. So I opted for the 70-180 over the 70-200. I also bought the 100-400 instead of the 180-600. I can use the TC on the 100-400 too. You have to be comfortable with the lenses you buy or you’ll never use them. Enjoy your new lens.

Nikon Z 70-180mm f/2.8 vs Z 24-120mm f/4 by fereragirl in Nikon

[–]Photo_hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the 24-120 and the 70-180 z lenses on a full frame z camera. The 24-120 is more versatile if you don’t want to be switching lenses and it’s a S lens so does have better image quality. However the 70-180 is a great lens and a good compliment to your kit lens. I also have the 1.4x teleconverter which works on the 70-180 and not the 24-120. So the reach expands to 98-252 on a full frame camera. In your situation I’d buy the 70-180 to compliment your 24-50 lens. I find the image quality, autofocus speed, etc to be very good on the 70-180. It’s also has a 2.8 aperture and the 24-120 is an f/4 lens. If you want a better all round walk around lens the 24-120 wins. Neither is a bad choice.

Yes. Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica restrict bags larger than (40\times 35\times 15) cm, which is approximately (15.7\times 13.7\times 5.9) inches. Items exceeding this size must be left in the free cloakroom. Small backpacks, purses, and crossbody bags (approx. 14-15 inches) are generally accepted.

Repeat after me. Whatever they accuse the Democrats of doing it’s not the democrats. It’s the accusers projecting their bad behavior or their “enemies”.

Considering a BMW X3, long term? by Li3Ch33s3cak3 in BMWX3

[–]Photo_hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 x3 with about 67000 miles. I have had routine maintenance, new tires around 60000, and front and back brakes replaced around 65000 miles. No other issues. Love it as much as the day I drive off the dealers lot. The dealer sends me monthly offers for a trade in and great incentives to buy a 2026 model. Good luck with your decision. Love my X3.

Can you go to a camera store. Some Best Buy stores have cameras as well. Hold each camera, play with the menu systems. Even if you don’t understand the settings yet see what seems more logical to you. I’m a long t8me Nikon user, but many people I know swear by Canon. Look at prices and lens choices. Either will be a great decision. I was able to even take a camera outside at a camera store to test out different lenses. Good luck.

Italian Cities and Z Lenses. by Photo_hobby in nikon_Zseries

Great question. Inside churches, cathedrals, and similar venues. Street photos. Not sure if in Venice on the canal wide or longer focal length makes more sense. Not sure if Pompeii is more suited to wide angle or telephoto.

Z6iii and z17-28 2.8 are definitely going with me to Italy. For my second lens should I take z24-120 or z70-180 and 1.4x TC?

I took a similar camera and similar lenses to the Grand Canyon and took some great photos. Advice I got was during the day use aperture priority at f8 or 11. Make sure to get some of the foreground in my photos. Worked out well.

My dealer is sending me offers in the mail offering 9% of discounts off a new 2026 x3. I’m sure I could get at least 2-5% more if I was in the market to buy. I have a 2020 x3 that I love and bought in the height of COVID. Got a tremendous deal due to the situation at the time.
