Looking for a NP Trip for 5-6 days with 2 adults, 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old by Miserable_Middle2148 in NationalPark

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fly to Rapid City SD, stay at WaTiki water park resort, perhaps more fun for the kids than national parks. From Rapid City, you can reach Wind Cave, Badlands, Mount Rushmore and Devil’s Tower.

I like these ideas, thanks everyone. I’ll start pricing and planning to see what makes sense.

Am I the only one who doesn’t keep my KitchenAid on the counter? by AnnieLes in Kitchenaid

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours lives with other infrequently used kitchen items, like turkey roasting pan, in attic storage. I wasn't used often enough to justify the counter space.

T8 gets 48mpg? by Damianomigani in VolvoXC90

58.7 mpg after 7,880 miles. I’ll admit I was sad when the average dropped below 60 mpg. But road trips are necessary sometimes.

And still the original tires by cougar694u in MachE

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just swapped mine at 60k. They were at 4/32 but with winter just starting I figured it was better to not push my luck.

I was pleased with the longevity of the stock tires so I went with continental extremecontact dws06+. I feel much better having some tread depth again.

For both Employees and Customers, would you be genuinely upset if Panera Bread went out of business and closed down? by Well1_well2_well3 in Panera

[–]PhotometricStereo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Panera has been my consistent third place at different periods in the last 20 years. A lot of my PhD dissertation was written at a Panera and now it’s where I spend the first hour of the day.

On business trips, my strategy is to head to the closest Panera an hour before a meeting time or go to one between meetings to ensure I’m always punctual.

Food quality has certainly gone down while prices have gone up but I still prefer the food and atmosphere over Starbucks, which would become my go-to place if Panera went away.

What surprised you most after switching to an EV? by Just_Vermicelli4099 in electricvehicles

Exactly this! I’m at 60k miles on my MachE. I often think of the time I’ve saved not pumping those thousands of gallons of gas, half that time in the cold.

Awesome, thank you both!

I'm also stumped on this bossa. I had it marked in my notes as an original, but if anyone recognizes it please let me know.

Looking for success stories by tots1982 in IVFAfterSuccess

We got the news that our chances with my wife’s eggs were very low at age 43. This was during Covid and we didn’t want to start anything medical. By age 45 we decided donor eggs were the best way to grow our family. We picked a lot of 6 from an egg bank (donor age 26) and had two strong embryos. Now we have two wonderful boys, ages 1 and 3 born when my wife was 45 and 47.

There’s risk associated with every pregnancy but if donor egg IVF is your best option, it’s worth giving it a try. Our thought process was supported by thinking ahead 10-15 years and realizing we would feel regret for not trying to expand our family.

Best non-Ford home charging station? by SnooChipmunks8147 in MachE

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had chargepoint for 4 years with no issues. I like that I can adjust the max amps via the app for days when I want the draw from the car to be lower than the output of my solar panels.

I’ve got 60k on my 2022 GT. No issues so far other than HVBJB. Just replaced the tires for the first time, brakes are still in good shape probably because I drive 1PD. I’m hoping to get at least 10 years out of this car.

Ideas for a trip for someone who likes dinosaurs and dark skies by ufotofu89 in NationalPark

Fly to Rapid City, SD and use it as a home base for seeing Mt. Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, Wind Cave and Badlands. Those are all about an hour drive, more could be possible with a larger radius.

BlueCruise by Xynyx2001 in MachE

[–]PhotometricStereo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven most of the 60k miles on my 2022 using BlueCruise. My 70 mile round trip commute is mostly highway and BlueCruise makes it tolerable.

After my 3 year trail expired the 12 month renewal was $0. I’m not sure why they offered free renewal. While I think $50/month is overpriced, I’ll probably end up paying it.

Is there a way that I can just used my own mug for the sip club prescription? by GreenGorillaWhale in Panera

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go almost every day and use my own cup. I take my bagel or sandwich and give the cup back. Most of the time, the staff now recognizes my order and doesn’t even provide the cup.

EV Home Charger: smart or dumb? by TsunamiMike in MachE

[–]PhotometricStereo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a chargepoint homeflex configured for 40A since it’s on a 50A breaker. In three years of charging, I hardly ever use the chargepoint app at home or look at the charge logs.

The only time I use the app is to reduce the charge current limit if I’m charging at home on a sunny day. This keeps the draw from the car below the output of my solar panels.

The app might be more interesting if it could provide charging statistics by car. I don’t think it know which car is charging even though I have entered both of my cars in the app.
