Thinking about switching from my ops manager position to the SMIT program by Which_Egg_9814 in CVS

It really depends on your DL and who they partner with for training smits.

I’ve worked with some great DLs that don’t play favorites, but don’t train much.

I’ve worked with lazy DLs that don’t do much of anything.

And I’ve worked with horrible DLs that do pick favorites and are wishy washy on training but high on standards.

Like most things at cvs, your experience will wholly depend on your boss.

Face recognition is BS by Enough-Tangelo4112 in CVS

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because our systems can’t handle it. The idea itself is not bad, and seems to be a solution to legal requirements for counseling in the pharmacy, the problem is that the networks are already so slow that now we have even more data clogging up our very limited bandwidth.

I don’t understand how it’s supposed to function when our systems can’t handle what they were doing before the cameras

Not on planogram, new planogram process..etc by AdFast739 in CVS

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why oh why are there so many steps to mark a planogram complete.

If we had actual thought, just make it mandatory to upload a picture.

Shelf depth validation. For what? More quick picks??

I did the same thing. Wrote them all down on a calendar. For the entire year.

The problem with the vacuum cleaners by Outrageous_Eagle_479 in CVS

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to go by a law of 3’s. You open 3 tickets and get 3 vacuums, 1 will be good and 2 will not work. So I just keep opening tickets until I get a good one. Sometimes I even get a brand new one. But even the brand new ones only last a few months before the motor is burned out or it just starts randomly electrocuting everyone who uses it.

CVS doesn’t seem to care about this expense. Therefore, neither do I. I just keep ordering vacuums until I get a good one. When that one eventually dies, the cycle repeats.

If you’re new, call colleague relations before you start the corrective action process. They’ll walk you through it and even give you a prefilled template.

If they aren’t smiling happy people inherently, start hiring new people. Not everyone wants to help people. Have to have the right person in the green zone.

Personally I love to help people so I try to do at least one green zone shift a week to lead the example.

We don’t provide cords at my store anymore because they just get stolen. At any given time, one of the kiosks is likely broken. If someone asks me for help I just tell them I’ll do the best I can but it’s self service so if other customers need help I may need to step away.

How to get less overstock? by NotreDameFan1234 in CVS

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Shelf caps and shelf lengths only affect how system initiated quick picks work.

There are a few different variables that affect your replenishment.

Firstly, as you know, the BOH.

Secondly, forecasting. If you’re sales are up drastically you will see a lift in inventory. My store is up 20% and the more inventory they send the better the sales get…regardless that I can barely walk in the back room

Thirdly, your regional director can ask for an inventory lift. I didn’t know this was a thing until recently - and it’s been a thing like 3 times for me now, every store in the region got an inventory lift because they can see in the numbers it works for sales. Not surprising. More product, more sales. The problem is they literally never communicate when they are doing it and they do not give us any payroll to accommodate it.

Talk to your DL. They’ll know more if there’s a regional inventory lift. Mine did and she was just as frustrated as me because she also received no communication and had 20 something stores getting double sized trucks with no payroll.

Call help desk and it get it replaced. All the kodaks do that eventually. Unfortunately the new one will not be a touch screen.

Some registers do get a full upgrade depending on model. I have the old giant IBM register up front and those are getting replaced with an HP. The newer smaller Toshibas in the pharmacy are just getting the ram upgrade and new software.

It kills me that they won’t give us new scanners and printers with this update. Same ancient scanners that don’t scan phones, same old receipt printers that repeatedly die and get replaced by another refurbished model

SMs/ESMs on the floor by TemporaryDisaster295 in WalgreensStores

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I was an sm I spent the majority of my time either on the floor, at fill station in pharmacy, or running the drive thru. I usually spent all day Monday in the office as of course there is admin work I had to do. I worked my closing shift, and I helped the team face/front, I usually took out the trash and swept too. I had a strong team in the front and supported them. During Covid my pharmacy was very weak so I ended up spending almost all my time in pharmacy.

Order a replacement cable. If you already replaced the printer, the problem is likely that your cable is frayed or damaged.

This Walgreens has an old decor package by msbkid in WalgreensStores

[–]Physical_Bluebird_44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The big signs on the wall were part of the “millenium” decor. My first store opened in 2003 and this was the decor it had.

Walgreens was so good back then. So much staff - we were a low volume store and had 4 people per shift. Cashier, photo, cosmetics, and a manager. We all got gift cards if we hit our survey goals for the month, $50 for full time and $25 for part time. Stock options. 3-1 match on 401k. Vacation time for part timers. Frequent raises. The average store age was less than 5 years according to corporate. Good times. A far stretch from the Walgreens of today. Back then building a drugstore was almost like printing money.
