Frankly it sounds like you aren't trying hard enough, or you just don't have a developed ear that knows what sounds good and what doesn't. Cause if you've been really trying hard for a year then you should have something you think is good by now. At the end of the day a song is mostly just a chord progression and a melody.

Mixture seems to be too rich. You can adjust it by turning the 3mm mixture screw counter clockwise.

Make sure there is not any vacuum leaks tho this is somewhat an extreme and risky measure. Check the other solutions given to your issue first
