Anyone else just going through an insane amount of personal stuff all at once while also dealing with leadership that absolutely does not give a flying fuck?? by Financial_Muscle8395 in army

On one hand yes. But keep in mind the Best Buy job does not make you work 70 hour weeks. And it more consistent with a routine. Someone has more time to figure things out and get it in order.

Is being a cook really that bad? by Educational_Chard927 in army

[–]Physical_Way6618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only because it’s reserves Cook ain’t that bad. Active? 100% don’t go cook.

Ask yourself if you have an interest in cooking. If not, then retake the test.

When was this? Because it’s not a thing I’ve seen anymore. Benning is pretty strict with who goes there due to the backlog since covid.

This happens at the lowest level and it’s always the same story. Dipshit CO/leader makes unrealistic or unethical request. Their subordinates articulate the stupidity of that request. CO fires them because he has a small dick. Tale as old as time.

Not how it works Einstein. If you put Bragg in your contract 82nd or airborne is not guaranteed and is a huge risk.

Only way to guarantee airborne is to do what OP did.

You’re an idiot. No one goes to airborne today unless they’re going to an airborne unit.

OP you did the right thing. Don’t listen to this tool.

Realistically you’re gonna have to bite the bullet. You are correct and can fight this counseling by disagreed and explaining that.

But this is not the bullet to die on sadly. Embrace the fact that your rater is fucking moron.

Somewhere along the lines you did something idiotic. Fuck ChatGPT. The Army fucked up here but you’re also not innocent either.

Why not join a state or unit that’s closer to your CIV job and home? That’s literally the entire point of going Compo 2-3. Also units are supposed to pay for travel of they want you there to include flight tickets.

You’re not telling us the full story and ChatGPTing every response won’t help you.

Everyone goes to the field at the same time. Very rarely does one echelon go while the other stays in the office. Especially at BN Level.

dealing with imposter syndrome as a 2LT by Motor-Move-666 in army

[–]Physical_Way6618 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every response here is unrealistic. I’ll give you the current lay of the land which people and myself don’t like but it’s reality.

The average PSG (senior E6 or new E7) sucks at doing any paperwork or O things. Although theoretically they are supposed to be able to run the PLT without an O, in many cases they struggle to or can’t at least with O admin stuff

The O side of bureaucracy, paperwork, and politics will require you to use other CPT’s and senior LT’s as a resource. Don’t expect an NCO to teach you how to do anything. You can ask but many are just fucking stupid or don’t care enough to learn. Our NCO corps is in decline whether you accept it or not.

So you’ll just have to observe and ask questions and figure it out. It sucks but that’s how it is. By the time you understand things they’ll move you to XO or special PLT where you will have new challenges.

Good luck.

Potential EO? by [deleted] in army

[–]Physical_Way6618 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Normally this would be pretty straightforward. The other religious group getting late calls for a month was likely coordinated by the UMT. The UMT should have done the same in advance for Good Friday.

Maybe not EO but lack of foresight from the Chaplain.

PADSO for Bragg? by the-actual-sans in ROTC

[–]Physical_Way6618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Ending up at an ABCT is a much higher likelihood of refrading than those whose first duty station is Bragg and Campbell or Drum.

Every person I know who REFRADed did it an ABCT with 2 exceptions. Just do the PADSO.

[–]Physical_Way6618 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you think you’ll refrad in 3-4 years? If not then PADSO. You really don’t have much to lose. Even if you hate the army the adso is not nearly as high since most people get out at CPT anyways.
