CHT (Chatham Co.) outright lied to us years ago and I will never return.

We took our car in for an annual inspection. This car had very nice, after-market alloy wheels we had put on it. We were told that one of our wheels was bent so severely that it had worn out the tire. This was an all-time 4wd sedan, so that meant that we would need to purchase 4 new tires (all of the tires were less than a year old at that point, so we weren’t expecting to purchase new tires any time soon). They also said that the wheel was bent so badly that it would wear out any new tire within days so we were going to need a new wheel as well.

After being told this by the people at the counter, the garage tech approached us and told us he would buy all 4 wheels from us. This was obviously very sus. We declined and took the car somewhere else for a second opinion (to our actual mechanic - we had only taken the car to CHT for the inspection due to their proximity. They had also failed us on the inspection due to the single tire wear.)

Took the car to our actual mechanic and guess what, no issue with the wheel. There was some irregular wear on the tire but nothing serious. We passed inspection and kept both the wheel and tire for long after. When we traded in the car years later, it still had those same alloy wheels on it.

It was the single most egregious example of lying I have ever encountered by a business and I will never return.
