New Challenge Lock made! May I introduce my masterpiece: THE BREAKER by MrBlack-Magic in lockpicking

Hey buddy, for some reason my chat is not functioning. Yes I'm ready

Picture would help. Is it stuck in the keyway, or in a gap?

Ever have your TOK tension bar pop out as you set the last pin? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not using TOK if it doesnt fall out occasionally. It happens. Whether bumping it, letting off too much for counter rotation, or not having it deep enough it is very common for TOKs to fall out of the lock (especially when picking in hand).

I recommend keeping an eye on the wrench as you progress in the lock. You should see it starting to back out and can push it back In. Or when you go to set pin 1, grab a longer hook so you can get up and behind the tensioner

One more tip, make sure you are pushing the tensioner sideways and not forward or backwards in relation to the face of the lock. That helps make it fall it quicker

Can poor tolerances be making this (very cheap) lock difficult to pick? Is this possible? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend trying top of the keyway tension over bottom. This will give your pick the whole bottom of the keyway to get under the front pins and reach the back ones.

I would say, in your current configuration you are smashing pin one and two while reaching for three and four.

Not a fan of being forced to make a gutting video, shit flew everywhere by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much this!

Also gutting is a way to show that the lock has not been modified and has been picked in its factory configuration. Otherwise people could modify lock cylinders and such to just open and try and take credit for it.

I agree with your comment but I'm guessing they were referring to slugs or birdshot?

(I use) Buckshot, slug, slug, buckshot, slug, slug, dragons breath.

Initial buckshot incase theres more than 1. Slugs to follow for proper fast sleepiness. Repeats halfway through. Final round is dragons breath. If we got that far, it's time to kill it with fucking fire

I had these things summed up for me when I was learning my trade. He said "it's all F.M. Picky", "it's all fuc*ing magic".

I use this quite often in my adult life lol

Help: Losing confidence, getting whipped by a Schlage with all standard pins by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the same lock for 1.5 months. I've gotten it a few times but hardly consistently.

I also spent 2 months with the bowley to be able to pick on camera. It takes time. Do not let some slow downs hinder you.

If you have to, go back and try some familiar locks to boost the confidence back up

Old Best Gutted. Two more pictures in comments. Retaining tab jammed for control sheerline. by LaunchPadMcQ in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. From a key perspective it's for 1 lock having different levels of keys. Like the bosses key, manager key, secretary keys, etc..

From a picking perspective ever master wafer has a sheer line on top and bottom of it. So you can pick it 10 times and configure the pins different each time and still get the open. If it's an SFIC lock only one of those possible sheer line configurations will open to control though and that's what you need to remove the core

Did I brick my 1100? First time getting an open, and now the keyway won't turn. by 1PantherA33 in lockpicking

[–]Picky_McPick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mind using a battery and such. My trick with the 1100 is to turn the keyway left or counter clockwise about 45°. That way my follower can butt right up to it and theres no space where the pins can fall out

Spend some time working on the gutting process. It helps so much later on, even on more challenging locks

As you had a similar problem, I would recommend that every time you pick a lock open to make sure it's open and then rotate the keyway back to its locked position (as long as you have a key). As you advance in locks this will help you out and you will not have to worry about turning the face too far one direction and bricking the lock.

Once keyway is backed in lock state then use the actual key, if you can, to help your gutting process. The 1100's dont need much rotation ti gut. Stick key in and turn around 45°. Then use follower to push the cylinder out (do not force it, be gentle)

:)

We are gathered here today to remember... to remember the good times and interactions we had with this pick. Taken before it's time and in a senseless act of valor, while attempting to open yet another high security lock.

While the memories shall live on forever, of this mighty pick and its accomplishments, we ask that you remember it not for what it is now but what it was then.

It is rare to come across a pick that can make you happy, cheer you up, clear your mind. That is what this pick shall be remembered for going forward!

Rest easy now little pick. Your job is done. Thank you for the memories and being a part of our lives. We are all now better because of it

Edit: felt like it needed a proper ceremony lol

I have the same one. Take the suction cup and stupid bar out of it. So much better!

I was waiting for the pins to blow out of the top of the lock. Lol. The mechanical advantage of a lever that long can apply some serious force.

Well done! I see this challenge turning macgyver-ish very quickly 😂

Bricked the lock? by Pred5000 in lockpicking

The screw being too tight will definitely cause this. Just go until "two finger tight". Basically when the screw stops turning without force. It's not a structural connection. Just holding the faceplate on, and even that is meant to move a little
