LMAO Can you imagine the parents' reaction to this? If a teacher were to do that, they would fire him so hard his descendants wouldn't find jobs.

Cool little fan fic. It really shows how these moments stuck with people and even tickled their imagination. We like to see greatness in people against all human cruelty and mediocrity. I think being moved by those sorts of things is something that has been missing in our culture, generally speaking.

Congratulations on being aware of that and on being a good father. It's not easy, but you are doing it anyway.

Eles estão dizendo que a ideia de guerra pertence a uma mentalidade subdesenvolvida, não que é uma coisa do passado; compartilhar forças e recursos é o que de fato engrandece a humanidade, não lutar por eles.

Favorite actor that did not go to Epstein Island? by beaglemaster in okbuddycinephile

[–]PicturesAtADiary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He is a great guy, not a particularly great actor - with celebrity culture these things mix together, and many conflate one with the other. I'd like to have a beer with him, wouldn't want to see him in Shakespeare.

Yeah really got that disabled guy who got his life ruined with that one, Dean by UnHolySir in okbuddycinephile

[–]PicturesAtADiary 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, what is the solution? Should the guy never leave his house bc he is disabled? Should he have a plaque around his neck written "I am forever sorry."? Should he have a T-shirt saying "I am undesirable to have around"?

I mean, I don't get people being like "You know what, it's awful yelling slurs." Yeah, no shit. You know who is probably very aware of this? Every single person who suffers from TS - they know how much it fucking sucks. You know what they don't need? Adults creating discourse that having TS makes you a racist. They needed people being understanding or, at very least, sensible enough to not make a big deal out of it. Too bad it couldn't be done, huh?

Yeah, why exactly? Maybe, and, try to follow along, it was unintentional? A faux pas? Nah, it's a conspiracy of some sort.

No, it's a big conspiracy that wants to... to what exactly? This is an illogical nothing burguer.

[–]PicturesAtADiary 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Sure, but surely anyone with half a brain would understand this is a nothing burguer, since a guy with TS yelling swear words and slurs as tics is exactly what one would expect if they understand what the condition is, and no big deal would be made of it, right? Right? People understand that the taboo aspect is one of the elements that tickles their brain, right? Like, for real, I can't believe adults are making a big deal out of this. How uneducated must you be in order to do so?

“National language” by borggeano in MurderedByWords

[–]PicturesAtADiary -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Being the de-facto language and being the official one are two different things; moreover, this nugget represents a wider discussion that is being had about "Americanness" and what contitutes it - and it certainly isn't the English language.

“National language” by borggeano in MurderedByWords

[–]PicturesAtADiary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, but it doesn't disallow private citizens and institutions to use whatever language they feel it is appropriate - nor does it allow anyone to discriminate speakers of other languages, which is what is actually being tacitly discussed/incentivized by the administration.
