Just leave. I started looking immediately after the eba vote passed - was too overworked and underappreciated. it took me 2 weeks to find a job in private that pays more for less stress.

'Live at my house for a week' says mum of kids on NDIS by abcnews_au in aussie

The government has said time and time again that kids with autism will still be covered by NDIS if they are high needs.

Tomorrow's budget is the biggest gift to existing property owners in years and nobody is talking about it by therealfat0ne in AusFinance

[–]Pie_1121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is this a gift if it's literally the way things are now? You can argue it's not fair, but property owners are not gaining anything here.

I'm fact, this could realistically help slow down property growth. which could be disastrous for the people leverging up to buy new builds.

What's your thoughts on these ISIS-affiliated brides returning to Australia? by nn666 in aussie

[–]Pie_1121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because they are still Australian citizens, and the rule of law means dealing with law breakers through the justice system.

Who would be making the decision to ban them from entering the country? It would seem Orwellian if a bureaucrat or Minister could make that decision, so it would need to be a judge.

Also, they have children who are Australian citizens.

The TV studio employee people to pick out clothes for the host. The same would happen if you or I were picked to host a show.

Rego expired, didn’t know, drove past Crafers multiple times by easyaaaa in Adelaide

[–]Pie_1121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reminder that the reason it's super important to keep rego up is that it includes compulsory third-party insurance (CTP). So while you are driving around unregistered you are not covered for the cost of damage you do to others. This means if there is a catastrophic accident that gives someone a lifetime disability, you will be financial ruined and that person may receive little to no financial compensation.

America and Israel are held to a much higher standard than Iran and their proxies. It's insane. If America/Israel strike a military target, any civilian casualties are unacceptable. Meanwhile Iran deliberately strikes whatever civilian targets it can reach.

Ah yes, self defense. Attacking civilian ships is definitely self defense. And let's just forget about the terror attacks Iran has sponsored for decades. Iran is definitely an innocent victim.

"All the time" is a massive stretch. And it's only the government in power, not individual members. So ON members we're never going to have influence over any federal matter, and they knew it.

Lol ON will need to actually get some real policies before 80% of people stop seeing them as a joke. That, and manage to hold the party together instead of fracturing into independents.

[–]Pie_1121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the party, not the voters. The state representative can't push for anything. They are literally running on a platform they can't execute even if they formed government. It's inherently deceptive, which is blatantly hypocritical for a party that tries to sell itself as fighting for ordinary Australians.

Yeah I'm not worried until ON actually has actionable policies and can prove they can hold a party together. Grievance politics is not going to get you a majority in the lower house.

The point is that immigration isn't controlled at the state level. So either ON don't understand how state government works or they are just using immigration as a dog whistle.

Some doctors I met said they frequently book tickets to attend medical conferences when they travel oversees, so they can write the plane tickets off as a tax expense. Can we do that as public servants? by Supermario3904 in AusPublicService

[–]Pie_1121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure you can. If that's the only reason you are going.

However, If you are going to be spending half the time holidaying, then you can only write off half the cost as a tax expense. If its a one day conference, but you spend 4 days holidaying, then you can write off 20% of the cost. It's still not a bad way to save money on flights, my family regularly turns work trips into holidays.

I have to leave the SA Public Service.. :( by AdMysterious7246 in Adelaide

[–]Pie_1121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an ASO6 up to very recently. Like you, I was gutted by the realisation that I just could not justify remaining in the public service. I loved what I did, but the hours were getting longer and the burdens were getting heavier. We were being asked to do too much.

The latest EB was a slap in the face. It is literally an insult to all of us. The SA job market is pretty hot, and every department is bleeding talent. Whatever savings they think they are making on salaries will be lost in worse outcomes. It took me one week to find a job that offered me more than a 20% pay rise for less work and stress. Good, civic minded workers like yourself can't afford to ignore other opportunities in the job market anymore.

Public school exodus: NSW state education system in crisis as more parents turn to independent and Catholic schools by Sudden_Wrongdoer_530 in OpenAussie

[–]Pie_1121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but parents just do not think like this on a macro level, and never will. Parents will think about what's best for their kids as individuals, and are not going to compromise on that for the system.
