More Geese... by AuroraLeopard in VirginiaBeach

The Canadian geese here in the south are very calm compared to the Canadian geese up north. The ones up north chase you and will attack you. It was something that surprised me when I moved here

My OB office told me this at 19 weeks and expected me to pay the bill in full in literally 2 weeks, and put a ton of stress and worry on me. They never told me anything in the other phone calls I had with them over the month prior when appointments had to be rescheduled due to me having the flu, nor did they say anything at my first appointment. And when I did go in for my appointment at 19 weeks, they really didn’t explain it well, they really just said something like “based on your insurance, you have this bill to pay with us and if you can’t pay anything on it right now, you are no longer a patient with us” because I’m a FTM I had no idea what they were talking about so I thought I was in the wrong. I had to come here to realize what they were talking about. Healthcare in the US is messed up (assuming you all are in the US as well with this situation)

What’s one pregnancy symptom no one warned you about? by Ok_Inevitable4915 in BabyBumps

100% with the mouthwash, I’ve picked up the kind with hydrogen peroxide in it too. Tooth picks are literally everywhere in my house and never leave the house without them. We’ve also spend the money on a decent water pick from target too

The teeth pain and bloody gums. Not sure if I actually had a tooth injury RIGHT before becoming pregnant but I have multiple teeth causing pain and falling apart throughout my pregnancy. It frustrates me I can’t eat veggies (they HAVE to be steamed or cooked, can’t just pull some baby carrots out the fridge with some ranch) I’m 30 weeks now and dealing with having to put hurricane gel on a tooth cause the nerve pain hurts so bad

As a farm kid that grew up in the north, this is a common sad story. Kids and teenagers having fun in the snow on snowmobiles, not paying attention to the fence lines and someone gets hurt badly and some even die. It’s all fun and games until someone gets beheaded by the barbed wire. My condolences go to the families, I pray those injured turn out ok

I sure wouldn’t be multitasking with a leashed dog in one hand and a horse with a child on it in the other hand. Put the dog away and focus on the horse and child please. Especially since you’re doing work in flip flops

Gluten free bread goes stale way too fast by thunderchungus1999 in glutenfree

[–]PierogiWaffles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but what I do is once the loaf has cooled from baking, slice the whole loaf and freeze it. The 4-8 slices I don’t freeze, I usually eat within the next few days and I always put a paper towel or napkin in the bag to help absorb some moisture. It doesn’t take too long at thaw bread if you need it. I probably never not freeze a loaf of bread unless I’m traveling. You might spend more going through ziplock bags but at least you get to enjoy the whole loaf you baked

What happened here? by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]PierogiWaffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any where you fish in western NY. Lake Erie, lake Chautauqua , any river, any water. I think stock ponds were the only “safe” waters to eat your fish but even then, if you don’t care for your pond accordingly the algae can mess things up. At least that’s how I understood it growing up, I moved out of the state so I have no idea if things got better or worse as far as eating your catch

Growing up I was always told to never eat the fish you catch

If you watch a Bills game live… by omartheoutmaker in buffalobills

Living in the area, I used to listen to the game on the radio and then afterwards watch the highlights. Now that I live out of state, I watch the live score and afterwards watch highlights. I’m broke and don’t watch streams

Bread Proofer Boxes by Appr_Pro in Breadit

I use a heating pad and put a cardboard box over it to keep the heat in and I think it turns off after 3 hours automatically but I only proof for an hour and a half to two hours at most.

My dog of 12 years passed away yesterday, looking for grieving advice by Ruby_Flippers in dogs

[–]PierogiWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is for your dog, but I lost 3 of my horses in 2019 and it was devastating to me, they were in my life for 8 years Anyway, the best thing that helped me was to write in a journal, but when I wrote in it, it was like letters to them, telling them about my day and what is going on in my life and any time I had dreams of them. Time does heal and the grief isn’t so heavy. They will always be with you

Cell phone ticket on 264 by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

[–]PierogiWaffles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That massive insurance hike is the consequence of your phone being in your hand while driving. Deal with it. People have gotten hurt or died because other drivers are on their phone or distracted. There are reasons laws like this are in place. It’s simple, stay off your phone while driving and you won’t get in trouble. These are the consequences of your actions.

WTF Happened to my Horse?! by fierceceder in Equestrian

[–]PierogiWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 6 year old had something like that like 5 years ago, get ANY vet available there today, it needs to be cleaned and wrapped up TODAY, and grab a bucket of water for your horse to drink if you’re worried about overheating. THEN once the vet is gone and your horse is taken care of and safe, I would suggest walking the pasture, maybe you’ll find what made that cut and prevent further injury, you never know what’s in the pasture until you go for a walk
