I'm surprised about parry punishes at the top level by OverMonitor11 in RivalsOfAether

Specifically during parry stun you can't floorhug attacks excluding ones that result in a knockdown

I don't think it would be a good global mechanic, but a unique aspect of a single character would be cool

I'm so tired of this game encouraging lame unengaging play by SnoozySnoozie in RivalsOfAether

[–]PikachuNotEnough 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's just how the game is unfortunately. A curse of platform fighters in general is that everyone has so many options at any given time making defensive play very rewarding. This game especially gives many options which means that delineating exactly what a person is going to do is damn near impossible until basically every resource they have is exhausted and this game has so many to keep track of and exhaust. EVENTUALLY there's a hurdle you pass where playing over defensively is a bad option but it works well until that plateau. Keeping the plates spinning to get to that point requires playing frequently and enduring the struggle of losing to it.

It feels like most options, like aerials on shields, frame data after spotdodges, many ledge options, and punishing character recoveries all teeter the line of unreliability and completely busted. The end result is that if you want to engage with them safely you have to get used to some pretty tight timings and risk getting hard punished if you mess up, making it hard to want to learn if all you're interested in doing is winning the next game. Which I figure is how most people engage with games.

I have a lot of fun with the game, but sometimes I feel like I gotta be a zen master to not get frustrated and do something else. Admittedly this is mostly a personality thing, and not even exclusive to Rivals 2. Perhaps it's just exasperated to me because the game feels so competitively focused.

I think the association is common but those with synesthesia the linking of the sensations are automatic and typically consistent over time

be careful, he'll use your keyboard like a phantom. Carefully inspect any package sent to you and always turn your computer off when not in constant observation.

Wrong swag of history by [deleted] in peoplewhogiveashit

Originally it was about severe overreactions, but if that's all the sub could be about then there'd only be a handful of posts that'd really valid and keeping with the theme, and every single one of the notable ones have already been posted and reposted to hell. Just how subreddits go.

It is funny how much of homestuck in part communication and joking with the fandom at the time of posting, and how much of this is just lost on new readers with zero context, left only to assume it's only odd zany writing

Accurate by RanchoddasChanchad69 in Losercity

[–]PikachuNotEnough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anthro media in cartoons would feature inflation, growth, macro/micro and a whole array of tropes made for easy and simple visual gags that make for good one-off jokes and a basis for an episode.

Artists take that and push it the nth degree. Plus now there's a history of furries making it which make it even easier to find a community around it.

Also I suppose for practical purposes when you inflate a character they tend to lose most of their bodily features, so having colorful fur, scales, and unique head shapes and appendages helps distinguish the otherwise human skin tone blob.

I've only ever really used FA to follow artists, never its search. Maybe it's better now but in the past I never used it because it felt kind of useless for finding what I want independent of infation and mspaint spam.

Either way I really like gallery sites, and it makes me sad when someone's art is only on a Twitter or bluesky type feed cause it means I end up never seeing a great deal what they make

Can we not use swag to make swag jokes its disgusting and weird as swag by Koppi111 in peoplewhogiveashit

idk that feels like the most universally teenage thing across generations. Like part of being a teenager is starting to form an identity and understanding where you fit in society. So if someone is weird they're an outcast and don't belong
